i dont think you can chip any of the cavalier motors. i could be wrong. but i dont think its really ever done. the computers in our motors really arent designed for that.

wait until hptuners has their kit available for eco's. or get an SAFC is you want to tune your fuel curves. but as far as ECU chipping and tuning... can't be done yet

Agreed

You can also use a Greddy E-manage for fuel & ignition timing changes.

From personal experience, you won't need to do any computer changes untill you get into your motor or your boosted.

try getting a chip from a bag of ruffles or a can of pringles

On an 04 eco with I/H/E, we found that bumping up (advancing) the ignition timing by about 12 degrees was good for a consistent 1/10 in the 1/4 mile. This was done using Emanage. We've had problems with the emanage on a boosted engine, but installed properly on an N/A ecotec you could probably see some decent gains from a good remapping of fuel and timing. But, as said before, until HPtuners comes out with their software package, there isn't a true performance chip available. Although that could change in the future as well.

or Shifted's OBD2project... that could yield some promising results.

^^ dude, no offense, but if you don't know what you're talking about you should really stop giving other people advice.

The EPROM is the chip in the ecu that contains the calibrations for the fuel injection system, among other things. The only way to change this is to A) have someone burn a program onto another EPROM, and then crack open the ecu, desolder the OEM one, and solder in the new eprom, or B) Flash a new code to the EPROM through electronic means, IE: GM's Tec2, or the HPTuners software, etc.

As far as I know, no one makes custom EPROM's at this time for the ecotec. I'm not even sure if the Eco ECU utilizes that style of board anymore. Its really not necessary given that they can flash the computer to reprogram it.

ODB 2 EPROM

OH it was for the ODB 2 on the eco priors.

But it's probalby to late huh. Im sure he bought it because some guy on the internet said he thinks that mabye they make one(not sarcasm). first you bitch at me becuase You said that I shouldnt tell people how I port matched my intake manifold because I didnt dyno and get actual results. and now this. jeez I cant get anything out with you around. there I feel better. I agree that you need to be careful with what you say but To what extent I think you are a bit confused.

Look man, its nothing personal, but look at what you just told the guy... "Oh yeah, maybe try this," and then he's on a wild goose chase while you're talking about the SUPERCHIPS eprom for the OHV, and thats not even OBD2, its OBD-0, or OBD1. OBD2 didn't start until 1996, although some cars were already compliant with OBD2 regs in the 1995 model year.

An EPROM is Electronic Programmable Read-Only Memory... its the chip that holds the calibrations. It is not the name of a performance part. So my point stands.

We're all here to learn from each other, but when people with limited experience start posting as if they have been there, done that, rookies and noobs get all sorts of misinformation in their heads which just leads to more headaches for everyone down the road, because then the people that really do have the experience get argued with, because the noob "read somewhere" or "heard somewhere" something that sounds more appealing than the truth of the matter. Once people learn something the wrong way its really hard to get them out of the habit.

You will never see me post on this forum about a product or technology unless I have actual experience with it. If i do decide to participate in the discussion without firsthand experience, i make absolutely sure to say that what I'm saying is opinion, or theoretical based on what i DO know or have experience with.

My statement toward you wasn't just about this thread... i have seen you pop up in many places before talking about things that you obviously don't know a lot about. I'm not making fun of you for that, we all start somewhere, but sometimes you sit there and tell someone "you should do this, that, and the other thing", when you haven't done it for yourself, or in the case of your intake manifold match porting comment, you say that its "definitely worth it" with absolutely NO kind of hard data to support it. And then people go out, trusting what you said, and port their manifolds, and maybe spend a lot of time on it to not necessarily gain anything but a feeling in the seat of the pants. All I'm trying to say is that a lot of the time its better to spend more time reading than posting what others should/shouldn't do.

Ok yes The eprom is not for the ODB 2 But a no point do I pop In giving information where it makes no sense. I make it my business not post when im not knowldgeable in a situaion. and If A fact I have stated is proven wrong then I admit it.

Its just garbage for you to say that I should "stop giving people advice" You dont know me or have any idea of My abilty.
