question about cams and stock head flow.....

ok, so you can call me a newb about this question i guess if you like, but i feel it is a reasonable question. ok the first part is does anyone know what the limit is that the stock head can not flow any more air. now what is the limit on the stock cams??? well i am asking this because if they matched the cams to the head then that means that there is no reason to get cams till i get some headwork done... well please be freindly about this, the best way to learn about somthing is through asking questions. thanks

People have shown gains with cams only (secret cams in the LD9 for instance work very well). So, the head's match with the stock cams is not perfect.

if you are going to have it apart to install cams, spend the extra money and get the head ported and polished. you'll like the results!

Agreed.

Throwing bigger camshafts on will only do so much because your only going to bring in as much as your head will allow. By porting the head you'll get more of a flow that your supposed to.

Fer shizzle. It's all about freeing up restrictions while not losing velocity.

definitely do a full exhaust and header as well as the head work. you can allow all the air and exhaust in and out of the engine but if it all gets jammedup in the exhaust it wont do any good either

If you have dohc head on your car then no cam ground could ever demand more the the 4 valves per cyl could provide. To even come close to this the cams would need to be gi-freakin-normous and theres no way the factory is gonna do this. But these guys are right a cam swap and some mild port and polish work are deff worth it.

Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.

well here is what i am looking at.... from what i was already planning on, and from what you guys said, i am looking at a header, possible a throttle body, cams and head work. now i have a few more questions.... lol

first off with the throttle body, i have heard of people going with so many different sizes, but from what i know i was thinking about going with a 59 mm. i plan on keeping the motor all motor for now. is this correct thinking here??? and i about the head, can i get a ported and polished head? or do i gotta take the car off the road to get mine done. cuz at the moment she is my daily driver. dont plan on doing it real soon, just figured i would find out. nothing else that way i can slap the stock head back on like everything else i have kept if i ever get rid of her. and sell the parts.......

well thats all i can think of now, but i will post if i can think of anything else. any suggestions are welcomed. thanks
