i got a 95 2.2 and was wondering what kind of other mods you had to do. my brother said that im going to need a MAP sensor and my vacum is going to change and possibly cause me to loose power brakes. also getting the 1:6:1 rockers to add more lift. thanks for response
i believe your car already has a map sensor, unless it needs to be replaced.....and vaccum changes to where you lose power brakes?????
You shouldn't have to change or modify anything as long as its not an aggressive grind. I have a Stage 1 grind from JBP, and I haven't had any problems.
i want to ge the stage 2 and my brother is a mechanic and does the work with me and he said that the cam profile would cause vacum problems and the MAP sensor would need to be changed. hows the gains for the stage 1 though?
your brother doesnt know diddly then. the only time a cam is going to make you lose enough vacuum to be an issue is if its a very aggressive cam. if thats the case you'd have other issues like making the knock sensor and other OBD2 crap let it run right.
when i say agressive think of a really powerful V8 that has to keep one foot on the brakes and one on the gas at stops just to keep it running...kinda like my boss' son's TA.
and you already have a MAP sensor.
where does your brother work so i can call them and tell them how incompetent he is

I used to race cars, now I race myself.

Michael, most companies manufacture camshafts to not have to do any other modifications because they know most people aren't going to do anything to their head, also most camshafts aren't that high of profiles either.

If you go with a custom grind then you can discuss what kind of plans you have for the motor, he can also give you advice when you order the camshaft. I wouldn't worry. I'm running a pretty aggresive profile with really high lift and I still produce about 15-20 inches of vacuum pretty much like stock.
Just about every cam sold on the market for our cars is computer compatible, i.e. designed to work on our cars without modification. Yes, some of the cams for the Eco's have had some problems, but all those are the more radical design cams, on cars with allot of other major modifications. For some reason the Eco's computer is just a little more finicky in it's operating parameters.
