Loud air filters?

i just recently chaged the air filter on my wai to a "Ractive Translucent Heat Shield Filter" ; this replaced the cheapy ebay filter that i had on b4 (k&N style kinda). Is it my imagination or is this new air filter by ractive quieter? i know that the filter itself is smaller (a cone), it is smaller to facilitate the heat shield i would imagine. Im just wondering if different filters are different in sound, and also if this new filter could perhaps produce less performance. if so, what should i look for that isnt too expensive. thanks guys.ractive filter

some filters have more material...

in general, stick with a guaze filter for longevity and good air flow.

foam filters can disrupt air flow, and paper ones arent all that great. both are cheap however and easy to throw away and buy another one.

not really gonna matter though on what guaze filter you have as long as you keep it clean and keep it oiled.

No the filter is going otbe quieter.

I mean, they surrounded the thing with all that metal. Besides barely getting any air, its drowning out like any enclosed thing.

That and their other filter similar to that with the hole son the end, Event had on some time ago,....that filter also sucks....or I should say DOESN"T suck in enough air ot be very effective.

As for looks though, they are among the most eye catching.

If you want a filter with some bawls, get one of the 9" joints.
Akimoto, Summit (cheapest at $35), K&N or Green Filter

Have fun.

more or less.... it looks cool, but your limiting the area for air to come in.....
