Exhaust question ?
Thursday, August 18, 2005 10:26 PM
Sup everyone. I wans considering changing a bit of my exhaust since my cat is gettin clogged a bit i suppose... I wanted to place a cherry bomb instead, and a magnaflow muffler. now is it worth it to change the whole exhaust line to 2.25 or maybe 2.50 .. who knows so... would there be a significant gain ? should i stick to stock 2" ?
If anyone here got any tips or info on this i'd appreciate!

Yes, 2.25 is the best exhaust size for non boosted cars ( N/A )
For boosted cars ( depending on what your running ) is 2.50'' - 3.00''+.

Also cherry bombs are an excellent resonator ( ive had 2 ) , but i wouldn't recomment you use it inplace of your cat. Your best bet would be to get a high flow cat while your at it.
Catco / Magnaflow high flow cats will take care of you .

When i was driving my car home from the exhaust shop , after i installed a full exhaust.
( Pacesetter header / downpipe , Catco high flow cat, cherry bomb res, and a Borla muffler ) it felt like a whole different car, it pulls so much nicer .
I'de say go for it if you have the money !

That's a good explination DJ.

Let me add that 2 1/2" can be helpful when you have more engine modifications when Naturally Aspirated (N/A). 2 1/2" is also suited for supercharged vehicles and low boosted turbo cars.

True, that's also why a 2 1/2" on a more built n/a motor would good because, for example, if you rebuild the head and get a high grind camshaft, it will more than likely raise your powerband.
