Help with Crane install

alright guys, I've been searching the org for weeks looking for good info on an install for 1.6 ratio crane rockers and I've come up with some vague guidelines, but nothing that really ups my confidence about putting these in tomorrow.

I understand my valve cover needs to be modified, thats fine....

Starting with number one cylinder rotate the engine forward until the intake valve opens, and then starts to close. When you see intake valve start to close adjust the exhaust valve. With everything just contacting, run the poly lock down until the lifter compresses .020 inches, then using an allen wrench lock jam nut in place.

alright i'm pretty much set with this until the compression of the lifter part. I know I can use a feeler gauge, but is there any other tool thats better suited for this? Also where would i measure lifter compression if its underneath the pushrod, and the pushrod is being pushed by the rocker? I'm just confused about this step can someone please explain in detail, i've done quite a bit of engine work to my LN2 replacing the headgasket, but I've never had to do rocker adjustments before.

Event, I know you're out there... please explain in detail how to do this. I don't feel like firing up my car to have it run like @!#$... troubleshooting sucks.

Also, what torque should I tighten the main studs down to? I'd assume whatever the stock setting is for the stock rockers...?
