Hey I had question about seafoam. First i did i search on it and one guy said he runs 2 cans of it every time before he changes his oil....but on the bottle it says use 1/3 of a pint when pouring in through the throttle body....that would be 1/3 of the can......how would you go about using 2 cans?
Second, does anyone have any precautions for me before using it? I learned about it on the org, and have read nothing but good things about it.....let me know what you guys opinions are on it....
this probably should of been under the maintence forum...sorry

using 2 cans would be one can in the crankcase (with your oil), and the second can in your gas tank. definitely use it it is awsome stuff works GREAT. btw the can in with the oil will cleann up any sludge deposits of gum up you have in you crankcase and other parts the oil circulates through

is it true about what they say, "restores power and pickup"? I would only make sense to me, also I want to do this right before I'm about to change my oil correct?

in my 04 sunfire with 78000 mi on it, it did restore pick up and power. and id say change your oil then add the seafoam so that it can work through your motor and do its thing but maybe change it a little sooner then usual after the seafoam

i would think i would want to change the oil after the seafoam, because if the craps gonna clean my engine as good as it claims to i dont know if im gonna want whatever it knocks off floating around in my oil.

i been searching on it for 20 mins.... what the hell is this seafoam..... and where can i get it.....
12's......here i come
Seafoam is one thing you can use or there is this other stuff that you can get from the dealer....It's the same stuff for about $6 but I can't remember them name of it. It does work though
youve got to let it circulate through your engine though to do its job just change it sooner then normal but give it a chance to work through out the engine

Hey roy, did you engine stuttle a little when you poured the whole can into your crankcase? mine did, just curious.

The GM stuff is GM top engine cleaner.
As for when to change the oil after putting Seafoam in the crank case:
Pour seafoam into your oil 100 miles before your next oil change.
When you drain your oil for that oil change, you will literally see chunks of crud come out.

no it didnt stumble at all when i put it in
and i guess ill have to run a nother can through right before or else change my oil very soon

every time i change my oil (actually like i am getting ready to do right now) i run 8 oz through my crankcase, and 8 oz through my gas tank, with as close to 8 gal of gas as possible in the tank. that's 1/2 + 1/2 can. You're supposed to have 1.5 oz / qt for crankcase OIL mixture and 1 oz / gal for GAS tank. Like I said, that's what I do every 3000 miles (as much as I drive, every month and a half)
I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.
Any suggestions about using it through the throttle body?

Yeah, turn your head away, Some people ahve been splashed or sprayed in the face by some seafoam.
Personally i think the easiest way is the Vacuum line, this why you dont have to move your intake at all.

Is seafoam really needed when using full synthetic oil? I have never used seafoam, but I am considering it.
it wont hurt any jsut helps keep things clean

I used it before my oil change a couple of weeks ago. I threw it in a day before I did the oil change and ran a couple of errands next day changed the oil and it made a difference. This stuff is great.
What's the procedure for adding it to the crankcase, if I may inquire? I may just be reading too much into how to do this.

Splashed in the face how? also if i were to use the vacuum line, which is....i could probably figure it out, but im not exacty at my car right now, and its dark outside....heh...it says it needs to feed all cylinders. btw, thanks everyone for the input.

This stuff is great... Ive used it on all my cars, I actually just picked up a can of it the other day for my sunfire. The easiest vacuum line I have seen is the brake booster line, its big and easy to get at. I like to pour a little in so the engine stumbles, then pour as much as possible to get the engine to die. This way when the engine is stopped it will just sit on the back of the valves and in the intake. Then about 5 minutes later I resart which usually takes a few extra seconds. I like to raise the rpm rapidly and let it down a few times.. then look behind me... "wow the street got really foggy all the sudden. I seen alot of brown smoke coming out of the exaust with alot of white too. Any questions let me know

Yes Seafoam is great, last time i poured it down my throttle body it stalled twice on me. But the smoke that comes out behind after you start it back up is worth it stalling out. Ahh, fun times with Seafoam.
with all this coming out of the exaust.. is there an issue of clogging or possibly hindering the performance of the cat?
this sounds like something i used to do on cars back in the day when i worked a quick lube place...
