I have an 04 cavalier i was wondering if there was a way to disable the tc.
sure. you won't need it if you drive sanely.

LOL.. maybe he's trying to do a burn out... launch the car at the track.. autocross.. who knows.
Tell us what you're trying to achieve...?
If you click the e-brake up one click, it'll shut off the TC.. but the chime will go unless you have an aftermarket deck and the old radio completely removed.
If you put the shifter to 2nd or 1st.. it'll shut off the TC.
Otherwise, I've only seen it shut off when something's wrong, or you have an Autotrans Interceptor or B&M Shiftplus installed and set to high line pressure... but there's other mods you'll want to have at the same time so the engine & trans don't slop around in the engine bay..

look man. if you want to do burnouts, get a RWD car. FWD burnouts are no fun unless you are making over 250 hp. secondly... if you want to go fast at the track and run a good time, you want to LAUNCH the car, not sit in one spot spinning the tires for as long as possible. leave it on.

Couldnt you just unplug the fuse?

I suppose. But still... WHY? Traction control is your friend. I'm trying to keep you from doing something stupid. Leave the damn TC on.

my tc sometimes shuts off when im goofing off (e-brake burnout) when its wet, and let me tell ya you really wont that tc because is a ticket or a wreck waiting to happen.
I wanted to turn my tc off because i have steep driveway and in the winter its impossible to make it up w/o putting it in 2nd gear...which really isnt a problem, but it would be nice to just have a toggle for it instead, do you think that theres a way to add a switch to maybe some wire coming off the e-brake to trick the comp. to thinking its on?
in which case you would want to leave the TC on...

well...im about halfway up and there goes the tc and i get stuck, i drift backwards down to the bottom, put the e-brake on therefore shutting off the tc and go back up, and i make it that time, im telling you that it is just not possible for me to make it with the traction control turning on, it may sound odd to you but its true
I know exactly what you mean my buddy has a bmw and in the winter he would get stuck in the snow and the only way he could get out would be to shut off the traction control. If you have little to no traction you can floor your car all you want but it litteraly wont do anything.
hmmm... buy a subaru lol

You can make a switch to turn traction control off. There is one wire hooked up to the sensor on the ebrake. Simply splice into that wire and run it to a swith. Connect the other pole of that swith to ground. All this does is make your car think the ebrake is up when it is not.
Traction conrol really isn't a good thing either. There are times when you need a little wheelspin.
