So I have a built 2.2 ecotec motor and I am wondering if it will fit into a 1997 Z24. The Z24 originally came with a 2.4 but the motor is about to be removed. My question is will the 2.2 ecotec fit in it and mount up right? or will I have to buy some kind of mounting kit for it to work?
Any advice would be helpful. Thanks in advance!

See, I would stay with the 2.4 and just rebuild it. I am going to lower the compression to 8:1 and get it ready for a turbo.
The ecotec engine stock crank and transmission can hold up to around 500hp. Pistons and rods are gonna be the only thing I change in it.
In the 2.4 that is in the car now, I am not sure of any numbers on it. And I heard the tranny in it can hold only up to 350hp.
So I am at a stand still. I would love to put the ecotec in the Z24, just for the fact of it being an ecotec but I am not sure if its possible?

The Isuzu tranny hold 350hp? I have my doubts, serious doubts.

No problems with my Isuzu....
The eco tranny (auto) can hold around 275-300hp max without snapping. (stock of course)
Just make sure you have the computer/wiring harness.

Stock... and loving every minute of it.
It can be done. Search thru the performance section. I don't feel like typing.

i heard you need the wiring harness ecu and under dash harness bcm icp !
it is a must have
First I would not worry about the tranny handling or not handling the power until you make it. Soo many people say they are going to make this amount of power, yet never do. Yes the ecotec will fit, but you have to run a getrag tranny(which is better), and you need at least one differetn tranny mount. You need all the wiring (inside and out). It is a lot of work. Yes it can be done. We did it to a 96 cavy with a 2.2 3 speed. It is now a 2.2 Ecotec 5 speed.

Would the same type of work be required for a 2000 auto cavi?
has been done.. it will continue to get easier as better supports comes to our platform..

Sven you totally quarterloafed your computer..
350 hp? are you REALLY gonna make that much?? sounds more like your basing your engine choice on which one will WITHSTAND more power and not which actually MAKES the power...just wondering..cus its not impossible...you planning on putting down that kinda power??
