Why is it that every other car (and truck) out there have chip upgrades but not Ecotec powered cars? I've been searching for months and not found a single upgrade and I.m starting to get pissed off.
Well basically any J-body 96+ isn't able to be chipped because they are OBDII computer controlled.
If you are really interested in changing your fuel or ignition timing, read the
Full ECOTEC Build Guide and that will list everything that is available for the ECOTEC motor and even helpful tips and install help.
Good luck to you.

OBD2 isn't the problem, it lies more with GM's encryption of the data and the difficulty in retrieving checksums from the ECU.
VW's have had chips available from the 80's until now, all the way through OBD2. But that's because they use Bosch ECU's and I believe they actually released the source codes and other information themselves. Don't count on GM doing that any time soon.
Hopefully HPTuners will stop putting the J-body software on hold, and release it... And then, hopefully all the people who said they'd buy it actually do, so that they continue to make it.
