Call me an idiot but what is done to an engine that is rebuilt ? how much is the average they charge for this ? can it be a Do it yourself project ? ....... I want my engine rebuilt it has 143,000 miles and im about to get boost so i want it to perform to its fullest. thanks ....
new internals like pistons, rods, valves, etc etc. far as charge, you are going to have to call around to different places and ask. we cant tell you

Basically, your engine mileage is more of an effect on your bottom end (Pistons & Rods mainly). When someone says that something was "rebuilt", it's replaced with stronger parts.
As far as things being "do it yourself", if you have the knowledge, yes...is it easy to replace engine parts without knowledge, no. Basically my advice to you is take it to a place that has lots of experience with engines. Like myself, I take my motor work to an Engine Rebuilders shop where all they do is motor work and that's it.
One thing I will say is that you're making a good decision to replace your worn engine parts before boosting because boost causes even more wear and tear and pressure on your bottom end.
Good Luck to you.
