Alright, this last weekend I got my secret cams put in. After it was put in the engine had a misfire because it had a cracked spark plug boot, and then the water pump started leaking, so I had that fixed . So now all that got fixed, but the car has a horrible knock, almost sounds like a diesel. It only makes the noise after it has been warmed up. Can anybody tell me if this is how the secret cams are supposed to sound, or what might be the problem? here is the link to the sound, thanks in advance.

it doesn't do it at cold startup? Only at normal operating temp?
I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.
that what it was going for the last couple days, but when i started it this morning it was making the noise, just not as loud as when its warmed up.
i have the same @!#$ problem on my car! 2002 cavalier z24 2.4L.....and im bone stock. I've been trying to figure it out for a month now
i can't get the sound to play.............

wait for it... wait for it... NOW GO!! ---> '02 LS Sport <---

its like this wierd puttering noise, it seriously sounds like a diesel engine
its started making the noise when i start it up, but then it gets going and stops... starts back up again once it gets warm.
i think i know the sound that u are talking about. my car is making that sound now after i installed the secret cams. it also does it when it is warm but mine only last 30 secs or so. i think it could have something to do with a lifter. i think i have a gasket in backwards either on the intake or the exhaust cause i heard that the gaskets are flip-flopped of each other. but if anyone else has some input before i take apart the engine thinking its a gasket.
thanks
Ryan
ok so i took it in to get looked at today, and they told me it was the tensioner and timing chain assembly. Yeah well its a little more money than i have right now to get that fixed, like over 1,000 bucks. parts didn't look to bad he gave me a print off of the parts i need and its only about 350 for parts.
Anybody know if this could have been something the dealer did when replacing the water pump, or would this be a direct result of me switching the cams. because i didn't hear the noise until after i got it back from the dealer, but i also didn't drive it alot because it was leaking.
you can take it to the dealer and tell them you think that they messed something up when they fixed ur pump and you want it looked at and fixed free of charge. its worth a try
I agree, it's worth a try. But don't drive the car around alot with it sounding like that. If your chain breaks, your car will be okay (provided that it doesnt hit something when it breaks) but your car will be goin NO WHERE. I'd reccomend usin a different car until it's fixed.
last time i was at the dealer i had to yell at them becuase they tried to charge me for something i didn't want. so i don't want to show up and tell them they messed up my car and then have them turn around and say that changing the water pump would have nothing to do with the timing chain
