Ok guys, can't quite find the answer I'm looking for. Hopefully you guys won't mind answering my question. I have a 99 2.2 L engine. I have always wanted a z24. I figured I could do the swap, but since I have a running car I could build my replacement 2.4 for boost. I know there are computer differences between all of the years, so I wanted to add a 99 z24 engine, but I can get a really good deal on a 01 z24 head. would I be able to add this to the approriate block and have it work with the 99 z24 computer? Hopefully I was clear and I tried to be concise. Oh yeah, don't want the work of the eco swap so none of that nonsense.

Yes you can use the 01 head on the 99 block. For the most part all 2.4 heads are the same. There might be some slight differences in porting etc. They all have EGR ports.

yea the heads are the same. different computers of course, and the trannies are different.

The heads aren't all the same. Water jackets changed in size in either '99 or '00. I think if you search on here, you might be able to find pics of the two different heads...
