Anyone actually done this swap?

I.e. swapping out the 2.2 and replacing with the LSJ from the ion redline, cobalt ss

Cheers, Paul.

In all honesty , if GM ever releases the Ecotec s/c , it will prob be just as fast if not faster with less work / less money.

Thats what im going to do sometime in the future.

It is, but i wonder if it really will turn out as fast:

With no intercooler cores they will have to be running less boost than the 2.0 to avoid knock. I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being at around 175hp like the 2.4 charger.

I have seen some posts which suggest it will be as much as 250hp (and indeed, the gm build manual seems to suggest that), but i'm going to wait and see.

At the end of the day, our 2.2 is not designed to run boost whereas the 2.0 is built for it from the start. Thats my rationale for prefering the engine swap. Although the ECU side may kill that idea off.

Cheers, Paul.

look up airtonics. He's running low 14's (if I remeber right) and dynoed at over 200 hp with just the charger off the ss/redline. He doesn't even have his exhaust done !. This is the same m62 that is coming out for the ecotec. So it will definitely be a better combo than the 2.4/m45

15.891 @ 88 mph stock, still getting @!#$ty launches...

all i need is fuel stuff , and a heat exchanger to use for the intercooler on the 2.0 s/c

and there will be another 02 2.2 eco s/c'd running around

Psi, doesn't matter it is the HP/TQ to the wheels that breaks the motors wheather at 2 psi or 22 psi, it is all about the cfm and air flow.

Neverless, LSJ = better motor than L61, in MY opinion.
