Hey all i just got the magnum roller rockers for a 97 2.2 cavy. Now if any of you are thinking about doing this mod, when you get the instructions to put them on it will say to reach down and turn the crank pully to turn the engine over to find TDC and all that crap. I have found a much eaiser way to do this. Instead of trying to turn the crank pulley, jack up the passenger side of the car just enough so that the wheel is off the ground, then (if you have a 5 speed) put the car in 5th gear, (im not sure if this will work for autos) since the car is in gear and the engine is (abviously) connected to the tranny when you turn your wheel by hand it will turn the engine very eaisly so you can just turn your wheel to get the pistons to TDC. I finished the install in like half the time it prolly takes to do it by turning the crank pulley. Hope this helps everyone!!!!!!!!!!!

cause it takes every so long to take off a wheel, attach a socket and ratchet, and spin the pulley. THE RIGHT WAY TO DO THIS. your way might work but it is not the right way. its called a shortcut...do you know where shortcuts get you with cars?

my way you can still look at the top of your cylinder head see down in the spark plug hole all while turning the wheel still dont hate cause this way is faster...

I never had to take off a wheel to spin the crank. It may be easier to get at it without the wheel on, but its still possible to do it without removing it.
who the heck doesnt park their car not in gear? i always leave mine in gear. Anyway i was just putting out that suggestion it is way eaiser than any other way you can do it. if you dont like it lol dont take the advice.

i dont park my car in gear. only reason it would be in gear if parked is if i forget to take it out

what the author of this thread is pointless. the only way to adjust valves is manually by hand the proper way. taking short cuts will lead you to bent pushrods and broken valves.

What are you guys getting on his case for? There is nothing wrong with roatating the engine that way(Just make sure it's going in the right direction). Why would you guys think it matters if you turn the crank from on side or the other?
And like James Cahill said, you can get a socket or wrench on that bolt without removing anything or kacking anything else up
Oh yeah, leaving a car in gear is just a habit that some people develop, and some don't.

better a delay than a disaster.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!! LAST TIME I TRY TO HELP...

Turn the engine over however you want. On our old tercel, I use the power steering pump shaft nut to spin the engine. It's very easy with all the plugs out.
