pacesetter exhaust

i just finished a search, and did actually find information...hmm what a concept... but anyways, i came across a post about the cat-back system they produce(pacesetter), and noticed it was quite cheap. i know you get what you pay for, but why so cheap? is it just the non-stainless finish? cheap muffler? it appears to have a resonator, but if anyone has this or any experience with it, more imput would be nice. thanks very much everyone, as always you guys are very helpful.

It's cheap because it's crappy and likely will rust. There is even an org member who works for Pacesetter who will say the same thing.

And yes, you're right, you get what you pay for.

If you want a good pre-made cat-back system, check out Magnaflows or Borlas.

thanks for the info, i appreciate the heads up and will steer clear of that setup? quick question though, do both the magnaflow and borla catbacks come with resonators? thanks again

You're welcome

And Yes, they both come with resonators and sound very nice and deep (especially the Borla catback). Just so you know, the cat-back that RK sells is not the REAL Magnaflow cat-back system.

tthanks for the very speedy responses, The rk is not the same as the magnaflow, i always thought it was, is the muffler different? i listened to a clip of the borla exhaust on an ecotec, and i liked the sound, seemed pretty deep, but the description said there was no resonator. how is that possible? did they just remove the section of piping with the resonator? the resonator takes away the rasp i believe, and keeps it at a mild volume also, from what i've heard. thanks again, you have been very helpful

It's no problem.

Trust me, they have resonators. My friend had it on his old car (2.2 OHV) and it sounded wonderful. It wouldn't sound like that if it didn't have resonators.

Yes, resonators lower the tone and deepen the sound of your exhaust system.

if you live were they use road salt , its best to have stainless

more so if your 1 not to think of washing the salt off the exhaust like you would the rest of the car , even stainless doesnt like road salt , but it takes alot longer for it to show signs of damage , unless its a high quaility stainless

the pacesetter piping is made from aluminized steel , and the road salt will eat it if yo dont take care of it and wash it , but even still itll lessen the time it will last

i live in a dry climate (desert) and aluminized tubing will last along time , even my 68 elcamino has aluminized tubing on it , i had it done back in late 80's , and i lived in a costal city , and never had any problems with it , and its still on the car to this day

the rk exhaust is made by magnaflow , but to RK's specs , not magnalfows

only reason i got the rksystem , i got it used for dirt cheap , and it needs a resonator badly

my friend with the pacesetter needed a res also , but a few ive heard havent needed 1

the pacesetter isnt a bad system , and is reasonable for the money

like anything you buy you gotta take care of it
