Hi all I was wondering what the best and still legal header/exhuast to go with. I want to pick up power and good sound but I als need it to be legal. I kinda depend on the car for workand have already gotten pulled over and harassed about things not being legal (and it is all legal Dumb cop didnt know anything) Thanks for any help

Well as far as headers go, they aren't really illegal. The whole thing you have to worry about is emissions and as far as I know, no company will say that they are 100% emissions legal because they don't want to deal with any type of liability or complaining customers.
Last thing a cop is going to do is check to see if your header is legal, which he really couldn't do. The only thing he can really check to see is if you have a catalytic converter but most cops wouldn't even do that.
Now, there isn't a best header, everyone has different preferences. Being that you didn't list your motor, I can't really specify the most popular one for your motor that people go with but I can suggest checking out certain companies like Pacesetter, OBX, Weapon-R & RK Sport.

yeah I just realized that I left out the minor details of my motor. I have a 2001 Chevy Z24 (2.4l) I have AEM intake. I guess it was the cat issue I was worried about because the cop said that I had an altered Cat and that it wasnt legal, I had to get it inspected and signed off.

Ok, in your case, most people get the Coated Pacesetter Header for the 2.4 motor. Check it out.
I figured it was the catalytic converter they were talking about.

i have a pacesetter header, magnaflow cat and cat back exhaust...... never gotten pulled over so far for loud exhaust but when i went for emissions they checked to make sure i had a cat and everything in my car still. my car passed with flyin colors.
