ok i am looking into a tsudo stainless steel header for my z24. the header appears to have a valve on one of the pipes.
this is for a 2001 z24. the valve appears to go from the block right to the first pipe on the drivers side. is this header for my year or for an earlier year?
Sorry...

Tht's for the EGR for older year models.
Well 96-98
You being 01 it wont be an issue.
Other than trying to reach around it to get it bolted on.

well will it be functionable or will it be a tube to a dead end on the block?

Well,
The hole for the EGR is always there on the head.
But I think your exhaust header gasket blocks it of anyway so it won't matter.

if the egr is left unblock, the exhaust could leak out the front of the head, where the egr normally sits. if you use the correct gasket for your year engine, it will block the EGR for you, as long as it doesn't blow through the gasket, you'll be ok...
ok so i will continue to use the same gasket gotcha
