so what happened was, on thursday i got a pacesetter ceramic coated 4-1 header, magnaflow cat, and magnaflow exhaust put on my car, today ( monday ) my cel came on. so i go to autobone i mean zone, and they said my bank one o2 sensor is done and i need a new one blah blah. i go price one out for a bosch oe replacement its 85.99. Now i called my buddy for any ideas, and he said try getting the o2 simulator. but the description for that is for the cat o2 sensor, not the one on downpipe, which is the bank one sensor. if im going to spend the money, i want to do it right the first time. this is killing my gas because the computer is telling everything to run rich. any help is appreciated, if i get some info tonight i can have that sensor for tommorow, if not im stuck for another day. any help is greatly appreciated! thanks
My brother had a similar problem with his civic......he put a jfm heard on and threw a o2 code........he put a new sensor in and it wasnt the problem......he put the stock manifold back on with the origial o2 and never threw the code again...then he put the header back on and so did the light......i thought that maybe the exhaust gases were passing the sensor to fast for the o2 could not respond quickly......i would try to hunt down a
simulator .....if you still want to try an o2 im sure you can get an ACDelco one cheaper than 85 bucks..........if its the single wire o2 .... ACD P/N# afs20.....
thats what im thinking, maybe passing too fast, or too hot and burning the sensor out? it says o2 was responding slowly i remember that much. will a simulator work for the bank one o2 though instead of the bank two? ne one else?
I have the same problem but i have the RK-Sport 4-2-1 headder.... Im looking around for different options. Maybe just a wideband o2 sensor could work better than the OEM replacement. I haven't done much research on the wideband, but i would like to know if you can get just the sensor and not the a/f controller. If not than im just going to save my money and get that all together.
yeah, i was thinking wideband, but would that do it, and where would i go to get one? and how much/?
Is the sensor in the header? Or is it in the downpipe?
I just ordered a new bank 1 sensor on Saturday and it was only $53 for an OEM AC Delco sensor. I think they qouted you a price for the after-cat sensor.
any idea on how much a wideband would cost with just the sensor and what brand would it be?
hopefully this helps my problem, ordered a new bank one sensor with the help of grillrd, thanks man, and i found an exhaust leak, going to fix that, put new sensor in, and reset the code and see whats up.
what happens is, the pcm detects a much higher exhaust flow rate than it is used to with that new header. the PCM adds fuel, starts running abnormally rich, and is known to foul up the sensor probe. the best advice i can give you would be to replace the sensor, and before starting the car with the new sensor in, is reset the PCM. Have the exhaust leak fixed asap. And then the car should run great.
I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.

You really did not listen to what was said. J's only have bank 1 for both sensors. V8's have 2 banks (because there is 2 sides of a motor). The autozone scanner should read Bank 1 sensor (1 or 2). You need to know which sensor before buying one.
I will say since you just installed you header it probably is the first sensor, but you never know.

it is, its bank one sensor one the one in the downpipe, im getting my exhaust leak fixed thursday, shouldnt have one in the first place cause its all new from the header back, resetting the cel, and putting in the new sensor. this should clear everything up, in the mean time im EATING up gas like crazy its nuts. the damn sensor cost me 86$ for a bosch too! freakin autobone.

once again you did not read what I wrote or the Shifted. Bank 1 does not mean anything. You keep saying bank one. Secondly you got a bosch sensor well good luck. not many people have had good luck with those. AC Delco is the best to use.
