Question on installation of Trans Temp Gauge
Tuesday, October 18, 2005 12:59 PM
So I have an AutoMeter transmission temperature gauge and I'm not quite sure where to get the temperature from. Do I have to tap the transmission to put in the sensor, or should there be a spot where I can screw it into that is already there? I have an automatic tranny by the way. Thanks for any help.

there is a port just under the trans cooler lines on the trans it self

the auto meter sensor (atleast the 1 i got) screwed right into that port

it should be the same for all the 4t40/45 trans missions

im not sure on the 3spd

Did yours come with any type of line with it? Mine just came with the gauge and some fittings.

ive got the cobalt trans temp gauge

it has a electric sensor that screws into the trans , and then a wire harness that goes from the sensor to the gauge , then 3 wires come off the harness for power ground , and dash lights
