yeah, so after reading about this a little while ago, and then noticing on the intersate that my higher RPM's suck, and remembered reading that it would, could, might, whatever, but all in all increase my torque or HP in the uppers, well, i figured i try this mod..!!!
SO, here i am bringing this thread back, after doing this, and i do have to say, it helped quite a bit!!!! I was suprised.
Though i do have a few things to say.......
i noticed this, looking at the residue from the oil left between the head, and the manifold, that my manifold, looked like it was crooked.... or OFF, makes sense cuz, there is no specific spot, or a guide to mount it on there.........
whover was sitting there and styating that there are velocity stacks, obviously doesn't know what a F***ing velocity stack is!!!!!! LOOK IT UP DUMB@$$
next, i shaved mine as far as the runner started to dip down, since flaring it, i didn't think was gonna do any good....
Granted i probbaly made my holes biggger than what the head hole is, but IT DOESN'T MATTER, (unless you have forced induction) since an NA motor will SUCK air into the head....wait imagine this, you have a 2 inch pipe, and a 1 inch pipe, now join them, and seal the joint.... next put a suction onto the 2 inch pipe, and you will see that the 2" will want all two inches of air, but will only suck howere much the 1 inch pipe will allow it..... restricted it..... now swap it around, and you will see that the 1 insh pipe only needs a min. of 1 inch, so if you have 2 inches, IT DON'T care........... it will only suck what it needs........... hope that made sense for those non mechanicaly enclined.....
another thing i though of when doing this mod, if it helps, great, if not, it will prepare me for when i do a P & P.....
another thing for the genius, you said something about the fact that its NOT restrictive, and that we were going to be shaving off parts that help decrese the "turbulnace", WTF-ever... obviously you didn't look at it.... cuz by shaving some oif it off, you would actulally create a smoother transition between the two pieces of plastic..... and its a freakin runner, how much turbulence could there be that you would need to have somekind of rrig to decrease it..... C'MON THINK AbOUT IT
and one final thing, what exactly were you guys talking about shaving off near the TB, that transition is smoother than a baby's butt........ if youre talking about taking those fins off, that seperate the airflow and the sensor, then i really didn't see any need to do that.... unless you figured something out that i don't know. please explain that!!!! Thanx
all in all, this is great if you have a few hours, a dremel, and are mechanically inclined, cuz theres a bunch of plugs, and connectors that i disconnected, and someone could probably mess up thier motor if they forget how to put it back together, and not plug something in....
sorry for the rant, but i just had to say something.......
and thank you 04firetec for posting the idea....
PS, the biggest PITA was the fuel injector plugs, besides that, very easy.....

wait for it... wait for it... NOW GO!! ---> '02 LS Sport <---
