Battery?
Wednesday, October 26, 2005 7:44 PM
Well i have been experiencing some battery problems for about the past month with it not wanting to hold a charge for more than a few days. I still had the factory ac delco battery in it and i got tired of recharging it and having to jump it from time to time. So i broke down and bought a Optima red top. I don't know if it is me or what but the car seems to pull better. Does a battery make that much of a performance difference. I thought the battery was there primarly to start the car and nothing else. Oh well opinions please to tell me if i am just stupid or not

you're honestly better off with a yellow top. they are a more deep cycle battery. after your red top kicks the bucket, use a Optima yellow top for a honda. They are smaller and lighter, and will do just as good.

i would have go the yellow top but the red was all they had in stock and i needed it asap. But my question still wasn't answered. Will a good new battery help out the performance of a car esp. if the old one was going bad?

You reset the computer, same thing I just did. If you didn't do it after your mods thats why.

well in a sense yes it can make a differenace, becsue theld batteryu was constanly sucking voltage from the alt to keep charged and that put s aload on the alt all the time which in turn casued an extra load on the engine, which sucks up HP.

I have had the same red top battery since around Sep 2001 in three diffrent cars, and two accidents that put impacts directly to the battery and its still gong strong everyday in my cavy(car #3).

Of course ive never had a huge system so that can make a differance.

the computer has been reset since mods. Actually the car runs like @!#$ once i hit boost after reseting the computer but after a little bit of driving it starts acting fine again.

Also i was thinking thats why it feels different since was because the alternator wasn't working so hard which freed up some power. When they were doin the test on the factory battery is wouldn't put out any more the 200 CCA and it is supposed to but out 525 CCA. So the alternator was deff. working hard

The red top is a very strong battery. It has actually started my car with only 8V several times (when I had a short that would drain it down).
