What MSD setup for me?
Saturday, November 12, 2005 5:48 PM
Im wondering what kind of MSD setup would be the best for me. I am lose when it comes to this. It will be on a fully built 2200, I say built as in it is an NA motor will stronger internals, all new stronger valvetrain, and head work. I may run N20 on the motor (most likely ) what MSD would I run?

I can get an MSD 6AL box for dirt cheap but would that even help me out?
the box

I would just go with the MSD DIS-2, MSD coils, and a good set of plugs and wires. I have that setup and it works just fine for me.

MSD-31159, MSD-31153, depends if you want red or black spark wires

6211 box will work also but its no longer made buy msd, the new version is slightly bigger, a tad less current draw, and uses rotary dials rather than dip switches, also be sure to mount those coil packs somewhere other than right on the side of the motor high heat areas are bad for them

I've had 3 sets on different vehicles, as well as other people I know, had wires randomly stop firing, the plug clips inside the boot coming out, and all kinds of problems.

oh looks like you already got the 8824s then all you need is the adapter blocks and the msd box, i know some ppl that have had issues with them being there

YAY thank god for the 2200 coil packs. I almost forgot about them not being on the backside of the motor like on my 95 LN2. I had to pull the motor to replace them (automatic... no room up there)
