CLEVITE 77 BEARINGS

This post is not to put down jbodyperformance.com but i found out some interesting stuff about their clevite bearings. As some of you know im rebuilding my engine and was going to get clevite bearings all around. Jbodyperformance was the only place that i found online that had them for cam / crank / rod. There really expensive from their site so i looked around my area and found that NAPA carries clevite 77 bearings. Now Jbodyperformance price for all the bearings was like $323 or something like that. I got all the bearings from NAPA ( clevite 77 all around ) for $100. If someone could tell me whats going on there id appreciate it. Ive sent them an email expressing this over price concern but there has been no response.

They are in Canada, its costs more money to buy parts from the US, sent it to Canada then re sell it. Also, since they are in Canada they have to pay Taxes on all the items which come in which also increases the price.

I got mine from NAPA about 2 years ago it was about 180$ for the whole set. . . . .

You can buy Clevite parts just about anywhere. It's a good idea to start off somewhere that doesn't have a markup and then lots of shipping charges.

That's one reason to check all your options when working on a tight budget. Be sure to check the online sources, chain parts stores and your local parts supplier. Just make sure you know what your after and that who you deal with is reputable.
During my rebuild, I found my local parts store, an independant performance parts dealer, which I've delt with alot in the past, had the best pricing on my internal parts. Usually, a small locally owned shop like that can be more expesive, but this time they were the cheapest!
It just pays to shop around all your options.

Well said

See I always though of Napa, autozone and advanced autoparts to be more of an OEM parts place. I never thought if they would have aftermarket parts like clevitte bearings or something like that. Looks like I have more research to do so I can save some money during my rebuild.

I seem to get all the parts from my local auto parts store for the same price as they want on the websites in canadian and in my hands most of the time the same day. And they give me 40% off plus times and they can usually special order parts they don't normally carry for me at a reasonable price and I kno I am gonna get it without having to worry about getting an empty box.

Most of them carry a lot of aftermarket actually. Go into Advance Auto Parts or AutoZone and they typically have Edelbrock, Crane, Comp Cams, AEM, Injen, a lot of big brands chilling out front. And they can always order Sealed Power products, JE, Eagle, ARP... remember they go through the largest auto parts distributer in the country.

A couple of things here, first of all if you buy a 2x4 by 8 at home depot for $2.99 and lowe's has it for $2.49 home depot is not ripping you off. Second of all, you guys do realize that Clevite 77 sells bearings in different types, i.e. P Type, H type, etc, so there are different price ranges. I went with the P-type for my engine build which go for different prices than some of their other bearing lines

I believe Clevite only has one type for our cars.
