Regarding the P&P Head Package from Turbo Tech for the 96-02 2.4L.
Has anyone had experience with this head package?
Has anyone HEARD anything about this package or know someone with it?
I'm not so much asking what kind of gains you got from it, because I'm sure there are gains, and my real concerns are:
1) Quality product? Never done business with Turbo Tech before...
2) Gains worth the price? ($1300 US)
Most importantly...
Within 2-3 months I will have J-Body Performance's Stage 1 or Stage 2 cams. TTR says their head package will work with the stock computer, and JBP says both their cams for the LD9 will work with the stock computer. But, if I had the head AND the cams, would THAT work with the stock ECU? Am I gonna lose my low-end?
Lots of in-depth questions here, but any answers I can get would be greatly appreciated. I've seen what kind of highly intelligent people are members of the

and I'm sure someone can point me in the right direction.
Thanks a lot guys!!
I've dealt with Turbo Tech Racing. No problems. Quick service!
I have cams and head work done... my power band shifted higher in rpms... so I have less low end but WAY more top end, and it pulls hard all the way to redline. No gasping for breath at 6000 rpms.
I haven't heard of a set of JBP stage 2 cams that didn't throw codes though. Stage 1 should be fine though.
My car throws a lean code... but I also have the GM supercharger on it.
Yeah Aaron at Turbo Tech will not give you any problems! Great customer service.
Excellent input Lenko and Polo!
Anyone else agree that the Stage 1 JBP cams will be better?
Also, in order to tune my fuel after such drastic changes in head and valvetrain flow, would the Apex'i Super AFC II be a good choice? Any other fuel-related devices that will help? Possible up the injector size a step? I'm so confused about that size injectors to use for what situations both N/A and F/I so please no flaming about stupid injector questions

.
OOOOOOOooooo also, how will this combo of cams and head work affect my ability to boost later on?

We run our 2.4 race head and the 2.3 cam swap in our cavalier. We had no check engine codes and the top end had a nice 22 hp increase before the swap.
Then we boosted the cavalier and have not dynoed it yet, and it has been about a year and a half.

Good news from everyone. Seems there are some hardcore mods in my near future
However, since I'm not interested in the secret cam swap, I would still like to know if the Stage 1 JBP cams would be better than the Stage 2's with a ported head and turbo. I understand that either the higher lift or longer duration of the Stage 2's can actually cause F/I cars to be less effective.
In response to Lenko's post, I have searched the ORG pretty thoroughly and it actually seems that the Stage 2 JBP cams don't throw codes for anybody. I could be mistaken, but that's just what I've gathered. Someone please verify.
As far as running too rich/lean after serious head and valvetrain work, I'm still looking for some input on if the Apex'i Super AFC II would be a good choice to take care of that. Also would a step up in injector size be ok? Size suggestions?
YAAAY so many questions!
Maybe I only read the problematic posts. Ah well.
I have the not-so-secret cams. Seem ok with my GM supercharger. Similar to the JBP stage 1 cams I believe.

The only cars I heard of throwing codes for the JBP stage II were ecotecs. I heard that problem was resolved not sure.
The SAFC is not a bad option for fine tuning fuel. Keep in mind it goes based off RPM's, and has only so many settings.
You mentioned boost. What are your plans for fuel for boost?

Have you guys dynoed a ecotec with that head package Aaron? With stock cams?

Do you happen to know what the stock flow is on the Eco head? Also, can you tell me what the flow numbers will be after the P&P done by you?
THanks man

We try to keep the intake side at a increase of 8-12% above stock. This is to keep the intake air velocity high. Bigger is not always better at this point in the head.

Exhaust is ported much more to 20-24% above stock.
There is a lot of though and consideration we do to these heads.

Chevy high performance did a dyno of a Patriot stage 2 head and cams. They got around 25whp and 35whtq. Pretty good amount. This was on a ecotec.

X2 except mines an eco and change the have to had
exactly... my ld9 cams, STAGE 2, never threw a code. ecotecs throw codes, ld9s do not.
We did Black's LD9 with secret exhaust cam only and ported and polished head with very nice gains over stock with a GM charger. The car does not feel faster but it can compare the power band to my LS1. It is very smooth and yes alot faster. From a second gear roll he was running with a stock T/A. Granted I wouldnt spend 1300 on a head when I do them myself lol. A good ported head is well worth the money. I am however gonna be getting a second head for his car for oversized valves and more extreme had work
