i was wondering what bit/grit should i use while i'm porting out my intake manifold? isnt it the higher the grit the smoother the finish?

Yes the higher the smoother.
From what I have gathered the intake mani is very good as it sits. Make sure you can port it all the way through if you do it tho. Goodluck.

It's actually not too bad. I talked to Cars N Effects about a price and they quoted in the $500-600 range but it's worth it when your turbocharged.
BTW, that's not including parts...I would buy the saab manifold on my own.

thats not nearly as bad as i had expected. i should probably stop post jacking *zip*

Don't have the tools nor the knowledge to do so...

Come on man ! It aint hard. here you go. Go get a Dremmel tool (cheapest way)
and get an assortment of cutting and grinding bits. Place the gasket on the end and mark any over lapping area with a marker. Then grab the grinding bits and have at it.
Experament with the different bits till you find which ones you like best while grinding down the real high spots. Then you'll have figured out which ones to use when its time to do the small stuff.
Its not hard at all but if your afraid you may mess up your good intake then go get a crappy one from a junk yard and play around till you get the feel for how it cuts. You'll save all that cash and since your sitting around with those toes it will give you something productive to work on.
Please by all means feel free to E-mail me if you have any questions about it at all.
I'd be glad to help you.

Lol, I might get one off ebay and play with it. I have a dremel already.

Jackalope, one thing you don't understand about me is that I'm not mechanically inclinded or handy whatsoever. If I touch my car, it's the bare minimum because I choose not to work on my car cause I am not a professional. If it's something like fixing my intake or something, that's another story but not with something like this.

Yes sir and proud of it. You might think "why is he proud?" and that's simple...I have a nice car, runs great and experiencing no problems. I personally would rather pay the extra money to have a car to run than me pay $0 and mess something up because I am not a mechanic nor do I have any type of knowledge of doing actual motor work etc etc
I've seen too many people who think that if they don't work on their own car that it makes them less of a tuner or something but then their cars come out looking and running like total crap because they shouldn't have touched their cars....if I touched my car...it would be the same way.
That's just my take on it...

i did the intake manifold on my 04 bout 8 months ago. well i bought one from ebay, ported it , then swapped em out but same difference. IMO its worth doing. no huge gains but its a nice addition to other bolt ons.
