hey whats going on i recently took off my resistor from my air temp sensor and i put back on my ambient air temperature sensor into my intake instead of my 30k ohm resistor.... the problem is that my engine is throwing a code saying that my sensor is making it run too lean and my 2nd o2 sensor which is reading too rich because i have a test pipe instead of a cat in there is reading too rich and also tossing a code so i guess my question is what can i do to fix this? i am probably going to splice the two wires together for my 2nd o2 sensor so no code will be tossed but what should i do about my temp sensor? thanks for the time... later
already replaced the air temp sensor thast what im saying the temp sensor is brand new plugged it in and it tossed code since i took the 30k ohm resistor... hence why im puzzled i also heard if you take a sparkplug nonfouler insert...let me know if it works or not. or what your opinions are on the situation.. later
Clear the codes, Then try and see what happens, If you dont Wipe the comp it will take awhile for the comp to learn you did something different.
i did the resistor wasn't throwing a code at all i have had that thing in for at least 8 months i decided it was a stupid mod and just not getting me to stoiche a/f ratio so i couldn't find my old temp sensor so i put a new one in a bought from my store.... it tossed the o2 code about 6 months ago and i cleared the code nothing happened.... so im not sure it tossed it within a day of me replacing the air temp sensor... im not sure whats going on so... its installed correctly and everything and its in the stock intake hose with a hacked air box.... all these mods were done at least 6 months ago nothing new to specifically messed up the temp sensor no wires are cut either or spliced all grounds good... so not sure... thanks for reading... later
Please pardon my abuse, but you do Crap mods your gonna get crapped on, eventually.
i may have missed it, but did you ever replace either o2 sensors?
And the actual prongs on the IAT sensor, Take a small pensil eraser and rub them up abit. Easy way to clean electrical contacts, That might help.
BTW did you ever relocate you IAT?
no i pretty much created a little pouch for it on the side of my intake and sealed it from moisture or grounding out... i replaced front o2 sensor car has only 60k on it so found it pointless to replace the second one quite yet since i might be getting rid of it soon... i understand i did stupid things with this car and im trying to correct them and do things the right way hence why i never used heating duct for intake piping... but i've got an aftermarket exhaust system and when they had it off i looked into the cat and saw the o2 sensor and it looked pretty good to me.... nothing wrong with it that i saw and when i hooked it up to the engine check from snap-on they said my o2 sensors were both reading correctly and within their range nothing bad with them my front o2 sensor was not even bad off but i figured 60k and rather than further down the road replace it replace it now...

Its not that easy, you need a simulator
Read a bit more what people say. Shifted gave you the answer. Unless you get a cat or an 02 sim. you'll get a code for the 2nd sensor. Btw, if you still get the IAT code, check with an OHM meter to see if the connection is good.
