Turbo Question
Wednesday, December 14, 2005 10:37 AM
Is it possible to have a turbocharged car and still use unleaded gas... gas prices are high so i dont want to always put 93+ in my car. so should is there a way to go turbo and still use regular unleaded or should i use nitrous instead... and only put in 93+ when i plan on using n20

If you are worried about the price of gas, the last thing you should do is turbo your car.

^^^^^^ exactly. I never understood it when people would hunt and hunt and hunt (spending gas) to save 10-20 cents a gallon. to fill up a cavalier, you are gonna use, what, 13 gallons? meaning price difference of $2.50 or so if your tank is completely empty. Not much of a price difference at all...especially if you are spending thousands on a turbo kit.

Sounds like overkill to me. I wouldn't want to run nitrous if I have turbo boost power already. Just turn up the PSI and tune it.

i see 2 reasons to run boost + spray. one, is if you are a 9 or 8 second drag only car with a no-expense spared build. second is if you are running a larger turbo that you use a smaller shot of n2o to help spool.

True but I didn't want to mention those two because realistically, if he's having trouble spooling the turbo, there are other areas to help spool it up that he probably haven't touched (hence: cylinder head porting).
