nology hot wires
Friday, December 16, 2005 8:01 PM
I attempted to search this before I posted .. and didn't find much that helped ... so here I am.

Does anyone have a set of these ... do they work ?? are our ignition systems normally lack lustre ? (01' 2200) I bought the PC-10 powercores .. and have no idea what they'll do since my car is in storage till april ... but I'm wondering if I should pick up the wires to install at the same time ... it's not like I'm pushing any crazy horsepower (obviously ... look at the damn motor) but I've got some work done ... I was also thinking about doing a FPR ... good combination ???
HELP

IMO a waste of good money.Spark plug wires dont create any more spark power, just free it up, from that of stock. you shouldnt need anything over 8mm.

You must not know what nology hot wires are then. They have a capacitive discharge built right in each wire, and they do create a hotter spark.

They look pretty... but I don't see a use for them. Unless your spark is not strong enough to burn all the A/F mixture in the combustion chamber, it won't make any additional power. Good spark ensures that you are able to burn all the air and fuel in the chamber, but unless you have ALOT of air/fuel(ie forced induction, nitrous, or a WILD cam), the stock system would be able to handle it.

I guess you dont know that has been repeatidy from false.

Do you know how a capacitor works?

And i why $150 wires when a $40 wire works just as well or better?

Nology capacitor wires are garbage. I'd consider them a visual mod, not a performance mod.

It is a temporary storage of electrons. thus not creating a higher voltage, but slightly increasing current.

i'd stay with stock wires they always worked best for me no power loss or gain just stock ignition system...

Use your money on something else, save up for something better.

i can attest to MSD's wires, i put a set on my toyota and the package reads true, i tested one wire (about 2 feet long) and only had like 220 ohms.

yes i had the proper range, it is not 220 k ohms exct. i know how you people are.

CAR GODS MADE THE 1.6 SOHC TO MAKE US 2.2 OHV GUYS FEEL BETTER.

hotter sparks.... hmmm just finish my ignition system course and pass both the theorical and practical exam, and I never heard about that. How can a spark can be hotter???? Maybe by raising the combustion chamber temp

I USED TO have them. In theory they sound pretty good, but what happens over time is the insulation on the ground breaks down and the wires actually arc under load. This causes the engine to miss (BAD), and fouls the plugs at best. Because things like plugs and wires are consumables, imo i wouldnt consider them a good starting place to mod. Good luck.

Does it go faster?
