HO manifold's on, But wait...

Well, I got my manifold on and it sounds great and feels great too. It idles at about 1700-1800rpm(I think that part is ok) but why would it ocasionally bounce from that to 2200 or so? With a little gas it goes away but as soon as you let off and it comes back down to idle it starts up again. I took the manifold off and added some gasket sealer, while it did get a bit quieter it is still jumping rpms. Ive checked all the hoses and they are all either conneceted correctly or blocked off acordingly. I think it may just be the flange of the manifold that is sucking air but what do you think? How should I remedy this? I think I should just go buy 2 new gaskets and silicone and try again.

wat are u using for a throttle body? sounds like ur tps might be messed up.... 17-1800 is wayy too high for idle

Well, I just took out the Gasket between the head and adapter plate and left the gasket between the adapter and mani.....seems to be doing lots better....Off for a drive now....

Well, now it idles normal, "quiet" and it pulls harder than I expected for just a "stock mani" but it is still cutting out at stand still, but I think its just loose vac lines.......

You find idling between 1700-1800 rpms to be okay?

Spray throttle body cleaner around the head and mani where the gaskets are when all bolted up, easy way to find a nice vacuum leak. Same with throttle body and manifold.

no not at all. I forgot to mention that the Idle rpm is back to normal. Thanks for the lookout though!!

otherwise you may have a vaccum leak, or one of the hoses going to the incorrect place.

Reset the IAC?

Take the battery off... leave it off for an hour or so. Put it back on, turn key to on (not start), wait 10 seconds or so... then start the car. Don't touch the throttle... let it learn the idle itself.

(I think that's how the IAC reset works... been a while...)

All is well. I unplugged the battery before I went to bed yesterday and today I have no problems. My CEL that I thought was on for my O2 sensor on my new header hasnt even come back on. Thanks for all the input!!
