I believe my fuel pump is about to go ou ton me, the gas gauge is doing the funky chicken. My question is, is the gas consumption is suffering tremendously, is this also an affect of the pump going out . Keep in mind I do have new O2 sensors, so i believe it rules those out.
your fuel pump should not be going out after only 5 years. you aren't exactly leaning out your car with only header and exhaust. what do you mean your gas gauge is doing the funky chicken?

it was going back and forth sometimes fluctuating as much as a 1/4 of a tank. I was told it could be the sending unit. i took it to the dealer and they said it was the whole fuel pump module. So I got a second opinion and they said the same thing.
that sounds like a sending unit problem. they just want money out of you. if your entire fuel pump was going out, you would be experiencing fuel deprivation problems most likely

is there some kind of sure fire way of finding out if it is the sending unit and not the whole pump. I would hate to have replace the sending unit and go back and replace the pump module. Also, a while back I was having issues with my O2 sensor, which was making my car run lean, does this cause damage to the fuel pump?
