header or short shifter??
Saturday, December 24, 2005 5:39 PM
I am new to jbo.org and I was wondering which would make my car (04 2dr 5speed cav)just a little faster a short throw shifter(b&m) or a 4-2-1 header(pacesetter). I had a 1998 cav with the pushrod and a header helped out and was wondering if anyone had a opinion on which would help out the best. Thanks! Merry christmas!

As far as I know Pacesetter only makes a 4-1 header. Somone correct me on this?

Armor coated or painted header?

a short throw shifter is for personal comfort. it won't make your car perform any different, it just makes you able to shift quicker. instead of moving the shifter, sayyyy, 5 inches from 1st to 2nd gear you will only move the shifter, sayyyy, 3.5 inches...

well that 1.5 less inches might make it quicker but it soulds like the header is better. just any 4-2-1 header, which is a personal fav??

It depends on where you want to go with the engine and where you want the power. If you decideon a 4-1 header, go with the ceramic coated header from Pacesetter. With the 4-1 you may lose some low end power but you'll gain a bit up top. The 4-2-1 header will help your low-mid range power. Its all preference but I've noticed that Pacesetter's 4-1 ceramic coated is the best bang for the buck.

Firefighter - I thought Pacesetter only made the 4-1 as well, so you might be right.

firefighter?

haha yeah. I'd go with the armor coated header. I only have the shifter because it was in stock when I went to summit.

Yeah as long as your not limp armed then the short shifter wont make you much faster.

Granted the header wont either, but it would more than the shifter.

tell the guy to put his mouth over his exhaust pipe and inhale deeply as someone starts it.

Seriously, he must have no life to pick on an economy car when he has a "sports car" must make him feel pretty @!#$ big to talk down to people. Rent a dodge viper and ask him to race. see if his tune changes.

Haha yeah,. I was like... I didn't post yet lol. I would go with the 4-1 ps armor coated and yes they only make a 4-1 for our cars.
