The love of the n/a 2200 ohv

Now I know some people hate the 2200 and some love it, but my question for today is.....

How much power do you guys think I could make to the crank with these mods :
Injen cold air intake with a functional ram air hood scoop
Underdrive crank and overdrive alt pullies
Pacesetter 4-1 header
Exhaust test pipe
2.5" Magnaflow catback
57mm throttle body
Patriot perf worked head with full valvetrain upgrades ( high rev lifters, chromoly pushrods, etc. )
Crane cams custom grind cam ( something really crazy with high high lift, but for n/a )
A fully worked bottom end with crankshaft work, 10.5 pistons, etc etc.
Custom PCM reflash raising rev limiter to 7k ish and adjusting spark advance and fuel curve.
I was hoping 220 - 240 at the crank, what do you guys think?

If you guys have any other ideas for mods the would be N/A ( no boost for me ) feel free to chime in.

Ya your stock intake Manifold is really crappy........ since your spending roughly 5000 anyways spend another 1000 and get an aluminum intake manifold and a larger tb then 57mm ...62mm is the way to go... your ported head will flow more CFM then stock .................... so get more air and more fuel ...... (upped duty cycle due to the PCM reflash)

He's right and I'd highly doubt you'd gain that much HP on an N/a 2200. The 2200 is a bad motor for an N/A build, decent on boost. For the money you'll spend, I think you'll be highly dissaponted at your dyno results.

go boost or nitrous.. the 2200 responds very well to nitrous.

dude I put the 62mm tb and the intake manifold .... on my N/A 2200 before boost and I dropped .5 in the quarter......... it helped A LOT !!!!!!!

now that I'm boosted just a compliment..... and that N/A was stock internals...... my 2200 responded great to the bbtb

hrrrmm, i guess it was alot on top end cuz a tb that big on an na can hurt more than gain.

Of course it's all top end, you've just changed your velocity which effects your powerband to move upwards.

Umm any motor responds well to nitrous or boost. More air = More power no matter what motor it is.

Shoot, I thought the full equation was a given...of course you need more fuel lol That's like buying a Maximum Boost Stage 1 kit (hence no fuel mods) HAHAHA

Not worth going N/A on a 4 banger unless it's over three liters and you have a ton of cash and it can rev very high.

I wouldn't even CONSIDER going n/a on a 4 banger unless it had at least an 8k redline. Which you're not going to get on a 2.2 without SERIOUS work.

It is NOT worth your money even trying. Engine swap or go forced induction.

With the mods you've listed you'd be LUCKY if you saw 175 hp. That would be amazing.

Please, take it from us and save your money.

just do an engine swap, you can get a used LD9 with a trans for like 1000 bucks. Thats already a 35HP gain, thats not bad for 1000 bucks. Alot more than you can get speding 1000 bucks on the 2200 OHV

I whole-heartedly agree with this. The 2200 OHV motor is not a hardcore NA style mootor. Swap if you are looking for power. For an autocross car or for a street car, its all the motor you need as long as you do bolt-on parts. Look at the parts I have to my 2200 sometime and I can tell you now, I am within three seconds of EVO VIII and STi around the local track here. You don't need a lot of money and power to have fun, just need to do your research and get a good setup. Hell, with the addition of motor mounts and tranny mounts to my setup, your car would be rockin' around a track. Only reason I don't have the mounts myself is because I drive my cav daily and a lot on the highway where the mounts will make it vibrate like piss. I think 175 HP is the number you would see at your build. It's all up to you. I have said my piece. PM with questions.

I'll have a sig someday....................

not just on four cylinders. REAL power is made with boost or the bottle. N/A is just good for "i'm too cheap and lazy to boost" or "look at how much power we can make without boost"

do a quad 4ho motor swap, or a 3800 s/c motor swap

I worded my old 2200 pretty good just to get it to go a little faster than a z24. learn from me quad 4 is the best way to go.
