2.3 HO Swap - Need more answers!

Ok guys...

I might do this swap. I need some answers, please!

A 2.3 HO with 5spd Getrag tranny from a 1990 GTZ may be going into my another 96 2200 that I picked up.

So far I have 95 2200 OBD1 Interior harness and cluster. Axles off a 1995 Cav with a 2200 and 5spd - I dont know if they will work at all. As what I can see is that passenger axle is longer.

I know I will need:

Z24 upper motor mount
Engine harness - (off from the GTZ)
ECU and EGR - (off from the GTZ)
Axles - (maybe?)
Sensors?

I was wondering if I could use the GTZ ECU/EGR, engine wiring harness, and axles in my 96 Cav with the 2.3 HO 5spd?

the axles are fine, they came out of a J, so they will work (the older N/L body axles are to short)

The interior (inside passenger compartment) harness doesnt need to be changed.
You will need a 95 engine harness...... Pref. the 2.3 one, but you can make the 2.2 one work.

The ECU/ECM will probably NOT work...... unless you can find a pin out for that computer, and figure out what each pin does....... not positive, but I can almost say for sure that you dont have a EGR on that engine.

The trans is going to be a pain to mount in the car...... from what I remember, it doesnt have the same mounts in the same places...... but I could be wrong. You will also have a pain dealing with the external slave cylinder for the trans..... as our cars are set up for an internal (you might get away with swapping everything for the clutch from the GTZ over to the J, but IDK cause I never tried)

Best bet is to maybe sell that trans, and find one from a 93-94 Quad 4..... either in a Grand Am, Beretta, Achieva, Cutlass........ they will pretty much bolt in, with a few minor tweaks (search trans forum for the swap)

good luck...... and check my registry, we have a W41 in a 96 Z24.....
