i wouldnt just "buy" the head per-se, i would talk to the company and see exactly what was done to the head and what the difference in the "stages" are... each company/person has they're own veiw of the "stages" of porting.
i can prettymuch say that there is no 3angle valvejob on the heads if they are selling them bare...but hard to say...

sorry, after just checking the flow numbers on the site, i would reccomend the stage-1 head, there is really not a hell of a big difference from that to the "stage2" head especially for oversize valves etc...
save yer cash do the stage one... (also has somewhat better low lift flow! = better)

Yeah but Stage I uses the OEM valvetrain, while the Stage II comes with an upgraded valvetrain.. I think I'm leaning more towards the Stage II bare.

i have the stage 2 sitting next to me right now. sexy piece of work.
just because the flow numbers dont have a huge difference doesnt make the stage 2 not worth it. the extra valvetrain works makes it worth it IMO.
give me a call or email sometime. I can get the head a little cheaper.

I used to race cars, now I race myself.

oh yeah and whats so worth it in the extra valve terrain? you telling me that some upgraded springs are going to be the shizzle mcnizzle for you guys or what? what kind of cam profiles are you running to need this upgraded stuff? how high ya revving ever exprirencing valve float?
my thoughts exactly... not saying its not worth it for the guy thats going to use it, (boosted, or someone thats going stand alone and wants to rev to the moon or use some custom grind one off cams that are crazy lift) but i'm sorry its like fast and furious all over again, buyin @!#$ thats pointless.

So, I remember you had the other thread about getting the stage 3 cams. Did you ever get them in, and if so, how are they working out???

The cams fit but when he started the car, the valves hit the pistons. So he is taking my head to a machine shop and he is going to try to fix the problem.

Well buddy. Your thoughts are wrong. The ecotec motor has very weak valve springs. I have to replace them just to run my 14PSI. So yes...some upgraded valve train parts ARE worth it. especially for $400 more than just a P'n'P head. And that's just for running a stock cam.
