CAN THIS BE FIXED??????????
Thursday, February 02, 2006 2:35 PM
Ok so if any of you have been following my engine build ive been waiting for my pistons

to come in. Well tuesday they finally got here yay. But im having a big problem. I test fit

them into my cylinder bores and I noticed that the idiots that bored my cylinders chiped

the top of cylinder number 1!!!!!!!!! I have no idea why i didnt notice it until now, but this is

a big problem. I was thinking that i could still put the pistons in because the chip is far

up enough so that the pistons rings will never hit it. But on the other hand sharp or

rough edges in the cylinders promote detonation. So how can something like this be

fixed? Ill try to get pics of the damage on here asap.

Sadly, you're probably right. Just get ahold of them and see what they say. Several people have been in touch with attorneys for the exact same stuff.

As for a fix.... I don't know what to tell yea.... It's easy as hell to remove metal, putting it back on and actually having a working motor afterward is another miracle by itself.

i'd be able to tell ya a little more if i could see exactly where it was. i'll keep checkin on here to see if you get any pictures up.
About getting another block for free, It can be done. My friend had his head rebuilt and the guys that did it forgot to clean the valve guides and it wasn't able to get oil and overheated. messed up the head bigtime. Got an attorney and won. It's worth a shot.

I hope it works out for you. But yea with an issue like that, it'd take a lot of balls for them to fess up and say they did it. They probably didn't notice it unless you have one very scandalous machine shop.

I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.

2 words, JB weld! That @!#$ is god! I've seen cracked blocks, cracked rims, and yes even oil return lines for a turbo use this stuff! Am I serious about using this internally? HELLLLLLL NO! Can u get another block for cheap? Hell yeah! Threaten them with an attorney and see if they would settle with boring you another block. How bad is it? Can u sleeve it? DO I even know what I'm talkin about?

You have been banned from NEJBODY.
You've displayed wayyy too many acts of pushing people to their limits.
It's never cool to tear people down for what they want to do.
NEJBODY is a team. We're not the same as JBO where everyone bashes on eachother.
I'm surprised you show up to our meets after half of the things you say on here.

i would say talk to them first tell them yo just unpacked the block and found the dammage, give them a chance to replace it, then if they start getting stupid then tell them youi are on like s car sites for the area and now eveyone will now the name of the shop that screwed you, and give them a chance to replace it quietly , if still not then get a lawyer sue them get saleno and barnes or some @!#$ laywers like that love cases like that

Well i took the block up to the place and i was pleseantly suprised about the response i got. The guy said it looks like his mistake so hes going to bore out the cylinder and put a sleeve in there for free! I was already to get pissed off tho haha

WOW !! Thats great news !! And don't worry sleeves in blocks are every bit as good as the block itself. Don't forget that all your top fuel and funny car engines are sleeved and they run just fine.

Glad this worked out for you.

Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
