A few years ago I had a local muffler shop install a custom 2.5" cat-back w/muffler. When the car is cold and I get to around 3000-3500 rpm, it makes this load annoying raspy noise. When the car is warmed up it doesn't make the sound. While I know it's a minor inconvenience, it still bothers the hell out of me. Is there a muffler/cat-back that doesn't have that raspy sound to it when cold, or do I just have to let my car warm up before I get on it? Any help is appreciated.
Best time so far is 15.7. RKSport Cold Air Intake, Custom
2.5 catback, B&M Short Throw Shifter
That's a natural thing to happen in 4 cylinder vehicles when they are cold. If you want you could try and throw a resonator on there to keep the tone down but I doubt that will help much.
Just let the car warm up...you should do that anyways, better for the engine. You really shouldn't be reaching 3000+ RPMs on a cold motor.

Usually I do let it warm up, but there are times when I just don't have the time and need to work extra fast ^_^. Thanks for the info, I'll just stop being picky.

No doubt, we all run into those situations.

I have a new exhaust and i get some raspy noises as well, although i think its because i have no cat or res on it for some reason.
