Hey guys I'm new to the forum. I just took over my wifes car, and already bought some parts for it. This week I got a AEM CAI and Pacesetter header. I just ordered the Megan Cat-Back system off of e-bay, now all I need is a high-flow cat and some warm weather to install this stuff. What performance stuff do you guys think I should do next.
well the FIRST thing that i would have done would've been going to aplusperformance.com and get their upper and/or lower motor mount. You'll def like the gains they offer. Ummm, you can get the unorthodox underdrive crankpully, thats a decent little piece. Other than that crap, lower the car. there is a group purchase going on right now for some tein s or h-tech springs for a damn good price.
oh, and when you get your exhaust welded up, you can get them to cut out those huge heat sheilds in the exhaust tunnels. put that thing on a diet!!
fill out your profile a little more, like what kinda year car it is, what motor you have, 5 speed or auto. should help with the suggestions

What is your goal for this car power wise?

in your pro it says "my money is waiting for turbo" which is good but if you plan on turbo, then you wont need the header.
there are engine mounts, pulleys, larger thorttle body. just have to pick which you want

Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
If you have a 2200, get the lightened rsm pulley. it'll give you a couple horses all across the band and that's cool.. if you've got a 2.4 or a 2.2 ecotec definetely get an underdrive kit. It's a bitch to put in pulleys but man.. you will feel it

Sadly, no more..
Sorry I forgot to mention that I have an '01 2200. Does the underdrive pull really do all that much, or is it more of a waste of money than it is worth? I talked about building a second engine in the future for turbo, but for right now I just want to turn into a fun car. I done some serarching on cams, but don't know if I want to go that rought this moment.
why would you reccomend a underdrive kit? the RSM pulley is definately the lightest and stock size, and that is where the actual gains of the pulley are. i dont see any added benefit in going underdrive without adversely affecting the charging system of the car.
Ill make a sig someday
As rhodaz24 said if you are going to do an underdrive pulley you need to install a smaller (overdrive) ALT pulley as well. Some kits actually some with both but some do not and you need to be careful of that...

Knowledge about everything and yet an expert of nothing!!
Jack of all trades.
Since you have a 2200, Honestly I would save for a motor swap.

Good begining but:
1. ditch the paceseter. those cheap headers will crack soon time.
2. Dont wast your money on a cat unless your gonna upgrade your exhuast
3. your header isnt gonna do much unless you get a bigger exhaust to match the larger diamter collector.
3. UDP will give you good gain and really good bang for the buck. ebay.
4. 95% of ppl on this site are ricer noobs that dont know jack @!#$.
5. motor mounts wont do anything except stiffen your motor. that common sense.
6. you might wonna try to hit up j-body.com. its our local ontario website. and ppl on there actually know stuff about cars.
good luck on your car

If you think we are all dumb and don't know anything about cars than why are you still here? To promote your little Canuck site? Stop being lame and either contribute positively or leave.

Where do you come up with that crap! I got mine for x-mas and looked it over real well, all the welds penetrated well, and they have nice beads. the ceramic coating is excellent. In the past Pacesetter wasnt a good company in the past, but recently they have changed things and made a good rep for themselves. also i see that you dont have one in your mod list, so how the @#$* would u know about them anyway.

Not all Canadians reflect his negative attitude. I am one of them. Hes an @$$hole lets just leave it at that.
Whats up people?
WOW !!! 2 weeks and we're a 95% bunch of ricer noobs. I've been moding cars since you were sh-ting green and sucking on your toes ! But hey we're the noobs right?
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
I like spanish rice?
it's good with steak usually.
But seriously man.
You're what I like to call a magazine mechanic. You read an article about something and then suddenly you know everything there is to know about that topic eh?
Pardon me if I am wrong Mr. Toronto Cavalier, but as I can see you have practically no engine mods.
The other people on this site however, well we have the mods and we have to knowhow to do them again if we needed to. We give out the information and we help if we can.
What business do you have coming here and degrading our site when you yourself don't have much room to speak for yourself.
You know what I think it is? I think you have an alterior motive.
I have a feeling that you're taking some of the dialogue on here and putting it on that forum of yours in a feeble attempt to keep people from jumping off of that j-body.COM and jumping onto the ORG.
I apologize if I am incorrect in assuming so, but it seems awfully suspicious of you.
And you are putting that forum at risk, there are a lot of people here, a lot. and probably wouldn't hesitate to make an account on j-body.COM and flame away.
You've already made a bad name for yourself. Get some real mods, then pass judgement on the parts. I have a pacesetter armor coated myself by the way, It's a very good header with very good welds, and for the price? It was practically paid for itself as soon as I got it, several times over. Not only that but if pacesetter is such a terrible company, why would they bother getting CARB verification for the state of california?
That's not cheap, so I am led to believe that they at least have some sort of funds to work with.
You lose sir, unless you have anything to add that is beneficial to this forum I ask that you leave.
Good day.
And this thread is horribly off topic. Let's get back to helping the guy out shall we?
I'm sure it was already mentioned, but pulleys are okay, they help your car rev a little quicker.
If you just want some added power, get all the boltons you can, and if that makes you happy then I would suggest sticking with that.
If you have other hopes for the car, there are options such as boost and nitrous that you can add in moderation so the car can still be somewhat reliable and streetable.
The 2200 I am unfamiliar with but in terms of performance I honestly have to say that it's a long hard road but people do get to where they want to, just look at some of the people here.
Hopefully that helps out some.
Motor mounts and tranny mounts help also. just to toss that in there
