Has anyone tried one of the ebay cat back exhausts. They are 2.5 inch with a 4 inch tip..stainless steel. I bought a header off ebay and its pretty nice. Just wondering if anyone has the cat back systems off ebay and how they are? thanks
eBay is a market place. Not a manufacturer, and not a supplier. Find out who made it and search for them.
why is that so funni...what is the difference between the ebay ones and a $500 rk sport or magnaflow one?
only ones that come to mind when he sez ebay cat back exhaust with a 4 inch tip is the megan cat back exhaust. from what ive read on them from other j-bo members that have it they like it.

boost will be soon for me....
Megan makes a decent product. But by the time yo pay for shipping on eBay, you'll pay pretty close to retail. That's the only thing I don't like about getting them off eBay. I figured they would be cheaper since everything else is.

also if you are N/A, 2.5" is too big, look for 2.25"
Ill make a sig someday
that catback is probaly very cheap, and will rust and fall off within a year or so. you can get a quality made exhaust from a local shop. just pick a muffler of your choice

The geranic ones are crap I have dumbed like $150 at the exhaust repair shop trying to fix it and it still leaks dotn buy. If u want a cat-back and your really really poor get a pace setter they are cheap. And they fit!!!!
darkblade j
how much do shops usually cost to make a custom exhaust for you?
you would have to call around and ask yourself
but no more than $200 id say

The Megan Cat back is full
Polished stainless steel.... That will not rust off on you... and that price for a local shop is probably mild steel, which means it will rust! The Pacesetter is also mild steel like thier headers! I'd like to see you find a full polished Stainless steel Mandrel bent catback for $200 from a local shop!!!
Like everyone else has said Ebay is basically a STORE... They are like your local 7-11... they don't make anything they sell... they only provide a place for you to purchase the items!!!
Is this the setup you are looking at?

True, but the megan one is 2.5" which is too large for NA motors. Unless you're boosted, you will shift your powerband up higher, and lose some low-end power.
The i.d. size is the only problem I see with the Megan (ebay) exhaust pipe. The piping looks good on the units, welds are good, and stainless is a plus.
Piping aside, the muffler does not look as great as quality as a flowmaster, or magnaflow. People who own Megan (or ebay similar) exhausts post that the noise level is quite high. It also does not come with a resonator (which when installed does cure the raspyness that is common with these exhausts.)

True enough... I have yet to see or hear a Megan exhaust yet... but I do know that Megan generally makes a decent product. and if you are worried about noise most people will not go with a "rice can" like the Megan. (No derogetory term meant by that)

Hey, does the RKSport cat-back sound bad? I have mine sitting here and I have yet to hook it up..
Check the exhaust sound clip topic under performance... I think there is someone who posted an RK sport there but I think it might be the dual setup...

Would that megan exhaust off ebay fit an ecotec exhaust? also i see alot of people on here with 2.5 inch piping with normally aspirated motors, does it really change your low end that much?
It would be a ton cheaper, and a lot easier to just get a exhaust shop to make you some 2.25 inch exhaust piping and have them throw on the cat, resonator, muffler of your choice.

Yes, it will shift your powerband up to higher rpms, thus making it seem as though you are losing low end power. Personally I like the low end power that my ohv makes. So I would not go with the 2.5" exhaust.
But someone might prefer to have their powerband up high, or planning on going boost in their future and would want the larger diameter.
