I read the faq and searched and didn't really find exactly what i was looking for so i'll post a quick question and if there is a topic can someone just paste the link. I got a 97 cav 2.2 is there a throttle body from a different motor that will fit my car that is relativly easy to come by and will give me some horsepower gain thanks

I dont know the differeance in TBs between the 2.2ohv and 2200, but for the 2200 you can swap in the 2.3 tb with little modification.
Still waiting for mine in the mail.
2200 and 2.2 tbs are different so the 2.3 tb swap won't work
RSM and Mantapart are really the only ones that make bigger TB for those years 2.2's.. They are both 59mm... My advise is take the one you have now and take it to a machine shop to get it bored to 59mm and save you some money.

I can take my stock 2.4l TB a bring it to be machined? How much can a stock TB be bored? Do i need a new butterfly plate? And what else it involved with doing this mod?
bore it to 59 mm and yes your gonna need a new butterfly plate.

some go to 59 mm. 62 for boost i.e. nitrous, turbo, or supercharger

yes. whoever is doing your TB should be able to make you a new one

nothing. take off your TB. take it to someone. then when they are done, put the TB back on

just go out there and take it off. Im not being a dick, but just don't break anything, and you'll only end up learning something. i never had a dad or anyone to show me how to work on cars while growing up, but i taught myself everything i need to know about them ( and yes, i did EvEntually break some stuff, but it was a learning experience)
just remember, if you stare at it long enough, you'll figure it out.
Open up your hood, Look blankly at the top on your intake manifold where the throttle body sits. Im not sure how your TB cable is hooked up, so your gonna have to figure that out for your self.
As for the rest, there are 4 big bolts, just remove them and it will come off. you might want to invest in another TB gasket.

Yup thats about it, the cable is very easy to remove and you will know how once you are looking right at it. Ive replaced a few TBs but never had to change the gasket though, Id just look at it and check the condition. If it does not rise above the rest of the inlet on the intake manifold or is cracked...replace it

no. just need a screw driver, maybe a wrench or 2

The TB on the 2.2 is part of the upper intake manifold. Theres more than 4 bolts. There are also some hose clamps, electrical connectors, and vacuum lines. There is a gasket between the upper and lower IMs.
Pic for those that don't understand my explination (the gray thing is the upper IM)-
Don't waste your money on an aftermarket one, have it done locally. You aren't going to see any HP gain from a bigger TB, just better throttle response.
