hello im looking for a catback and i want it to know if someone here have or knows how does the magnaflow catback sounds with and/or without a resonator.
does the sound come raspy without a resonator?
if i put a resonator will it make any difference???
thank you.
hi again iam thinking if im not going to put the entire catback and just make a custom and put a magnaflow muffler but i dont know what is the differences between the race series and the street series
is there is any difference in performance? or only in sound?
and if someone has mangaflow... what looks better the round one or the oval one on the car (sometimes the oval looks nicer than the round but if you want give me some suggestions) my car is black with stock bodykit right now i got a muffler round (pretty much a fart can lol).
I have an '02 Z24. I'm running Pacesetter piping, a Flowtech 18" resonator and a Magnaflow Street Series oval with a 4" tip. it's only raspy when cold. I'd take a pic of the muffler for ya, but my rear bumper has the factory lip on it, and you probably wouldn't get a good idea of what it would look like on your car.

I have magnaflow's catback mated to an iPerformance 4-2-1 header. Yes, it's raspy at higher RPM's (5000+). I bought a magnaflow 14" resonator, but I haven't had it welded in yet. I'll have to revisit this thread after I have it installed.

A more accurate observation has never been typed. These should be the starting points before any serious performance modification. What's the point of making a serious performer if you can't control it's power?

Are you saying you don't have a Catalytic Converter?

Its raspy but its not horrible. SlaminSunfire had it on his car before it was stolen and I liked it. Its just too pricey for me thats why I don't have it myself.
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
I have the RKSport kit with has the magnaflow muffler and 2.25" piping. It has no resonator. It never sounds raspy like alot of people have with there low end setups, but it sounds it could be refined a little with a glasspack for sure. It never gets to the point of bothering me though, so im not disapointed.
my rk/magnaflow , is NASTY RASPY when accelerating
with a header and high flow cat , and all 2 1/4" piping
ive got to add a resonator
while cruising its nice and quiet inside
the actual magnaflow system is different than the rk/magnaflow
Personally, I think all of the catbacks made for our cars need a reasontor. The RK magnaflow is raspy. The magnaflow one non rk I thought already had a resonator in it.

i really don't like how that sounds. I have personally never like the sound of the RK set up.
What i have now is just perfect for me. herer is mine. This is before i added a second resonator after the axle but before the exhaust.

I bought my Cavalier with a custom pipe and a Magnaflow muffler (one of the universal ones). THe old owner had put a resonated tip on it like you'd find at the parts store or in Jegs or Summit. It didn't have a resonator inline and at idle it was okay, louder than stock but not bad, and at cruise it was nice and mellow. WHen you get on it though it's loud as hell. Not raspy, per say, but obnoctious to say the least. I took the resonated tip off cuz it looked cheesy, and put on a regular turn down, and that actually made it worse.
Be kind to dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.
omg my fing god!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What the hell is the matter with you people if you are going to make an exhuast video let your car warm up and let the exhuast warm up it will sound 10000000 times better!! I hate flaming people but i have to one this one!I watch exhaust videos all the time and its makeing me so mad ALMOST EVERY 4 BANGER WILL SOUND RASPY WHEN COLD WHY MAKE A VIDEO AND SHOW THE WORLD HOW BAD YOU CAR SOUNDS WHEN ITS COLD???? Are you tone deff or just retared? You should know from driving your car around it sounds different when its cold. You souldnt be hard on the throttle till its warm anyways. So people say wow cavaliers sound like crap because they watch some dumbass rev up a cold car!

i guess it is because i don't have a straight through design because at start up my car does not sound raspy. I know what is raspy because i use to have straight through i guess my two resonators help with that. I will say as it warms up it gets a little louder.

On every 4 banger i have ever seen with exhaust its allways been the norm from then to sound like crap when cold but when they warmed up they smoothed out. My local jbody on a cold night leaving the meet would sound like a ricer raspy fart can party but after the cars warm up they all sound good i think.

If you're gonna go with Magnaflow, I'd suggest the dual oval tip. Each has a 4 inch opening and it sounds a lot better than most single outlets I've heard. Sure it's more weight, but they look better imo. Just make sure you have them welded asap. The bolt on look....well it sucks, look at my car domain for a picture.

As i have said. I use to have a straight through design. i know how it sounds, when it warmed up is sounded better than when warm, but what i have now with my set up i don't have that rasp. I have Cross flow muffler with 2 resonators and the second resonator is just after the axle.
