Ya know, I don't think I've heard of anyone on JBO who has a JBP-build engine. There's plenty of people who want a JBP engine, and plenty who say they're gonna get one, but they never do. There have been several threads regarding this topic, and if I remember correctly, the consensus was that nobody on JBO has one. I could be wrong though, it's been a while. Anyway, just wanted to clarify why nobody has responded in over 3.5 hours. Good luck in your search.

I wanted one, but a little high on the price, wanted somebody to get it first, dyno it, and see if it really has more HP.

well from what i understand you can have these engines custom built so i would assume you could have it built to pump out more ponies than the plain old 2.4l. but i was kinda hoping that someone else might have already done this so i can find out for sure if its worth doing?

I bought a 2.2 (LN2) engine from them.... Trust me, don't bother. Refer to this thread

I got it 3 months after I was told i would have it. and my car was a daily driver, and the engine was bad, so I had to WAIT with no car to drive for 3 months. supposedly because of the camshaft, was taking so long to get... Anyways, when it ran it's first 50 miles, it was great, but it broke, as you'll see in the thread. It was not the rings, it was the wrist pin. It slid out of the rod, and carved that nice groove into the cylinder wall. I now have it at a local machine shop, and they just sleeved it, and I've got new rings, and eagle H-beams, since that's what the machine shop said was the problem.
Anyways, Here it is, a whole year and 3 months since I placed my order with them, and I have yet to enjoy my new JBP engine.

I just kinda doubt their abilities, some. now, they did say I could send it back, to be checked and see if they would warrenty. But there was no gaurentee they would, and i'd have to pay shipping there, and back if they didn't want to warrenty it, and it's not cheap to ship an engine block. Anyways, I think it's just a hwole lot easier, and faster to get it done locally. Plus, you're in control. you buy some eagle H-beam rods, some wiseco pistons, and rings, take the pistons to a shop, (buy like .020 over) and have them bore it for the pistons exact size, get some clevite 77 bearings for the crank, new timing chain, oil pump, etc, you get my point. All of that would be less money (including the machine shop labor) to bore and do all that work to the block, and you can hold someone accountable if something messes up. Have them assemble it. I think that's a much better way to go.

so you figure it would be cheaper and safer to have a local shop build/customize my engine than if i ordered JBP's 2.4 engine . i was thinking of getting the whole engine off them not just the block .but i have no idea how much a local shop would want to custom build the engine and i figured it might be cheaper to just buy the whole thing rather than pay for so many part upgrades and shop labour . so the h-beam and the rings were the problem in your new engine?were they stock ?im wondering if i get the engine and have the guts all replaced mabye that problem wont happen to me and mabye the wait time might not be as bad because i live a couple of provinces over from the JBP but your problem has me doubting the reliability of JBP however maybe because its new and custom there might be a few bugs to work out along the way.
well thanks for your input and good luck hope your new block keeps on pumpin for ya

Exactly...that's what I would do. Or either find someone with a spare block for a $100 or so dollars and then buy a cylinder head package and just buy all the necessary parts to go along with it.
