Where can you find a cam for a 2.2L Ecotech?
Friday, March 10, 2006 6:38 AM
Does anyone know where I can find a performance camshaft for the 2.2L ecotech? Or any other engine internals for that matter?

you should not be near that car if you think it need a "performance camshafts" ..and why do you need built internals? You havent even got any mods to require them

Almost all the major cam manufacturers now make them for the ECOTEC.

Would you please enlighten us as to why he needs to step away for wanting "performance camshafts" as you put it? I see nothing wrong with asking.

As for the internals...maybe he wants to do a big build all at once. He wouldn't be the first to. I'm working with a customer now who is taking a bone stock 05 to a 11 second car in a year. Maybe this guy wants to start gathering parts now.

If you want some cams you can go to LZM, JBP, Comp, and soon Crane. I can sell the Comp and Cranes but the others you go right to the companies for.

I do have other mods, and I am gathering parts to build it all at once. I already have some parts, but I drive the car everyday right now and I can't afford to put it down to put them on. I am a Marine and I will be getting out of the service this month, I am going to go back home to St. Louis where I have another car to drive while my cavi has an empty engine bay and a proper garage (including lifts) to work on it.

So, don't open your mouth when you don't know the whole situation. I was just inquiring for information from a place where I know it will be accurate (to a certain degree).

Why do you all forget Crower ? They are the ones who grind the GM performance cams and all the ECOTEC cams for the GM race team ! If Crower is good enough to grind ALL of GM's cams then I'm pretty sure they can handle little old yours.

End Rant.

Just call the company of your choice and go from there.

I left out Crower for 2 reasons...
1) They are out of the price range that most people will pay.
2) I forgot that when I hit post and didn't feel like making a follow-up post

i think someone needs to find a way to make a boxing glove come through the monitor and give a mean left hook to the next person who puts an H in Ecotec....

How much do the other guys cost ? Crower is only $400.00 for two brand new cams.
Brand new not a re-grind. IMO its a good deal. What are the other companies selling them for ? and are they new or re-grinds ? And if it doesn't make a difference to you then thats cool but it makes a HUGE difference to me. I don't use re-ground cams ever only brand new will do.

lets not forget that without fuel/ignition tuning, cam swaps are marginal at best in regard to power increases.... ESPECIALLY if you've got a closed-loop-only ecu keeping things on lockdown.

Aparently Im the only that caught this...

1. its ecotec
2. you will 2 camshafts (intake and exhaust)
3.everywhere hypsy said or you can (this would be a last resort for me) have your factorys reground or just buy blanks and have them cut to your custom specs.

Crower is down to $400 now. They used to be $750 a set. I might have to reconsider them now

Whoa, calm down there tough guy.

He was just informing him that his engine has two cams not one cam or camshaft (as he did refer to replacing a cam and camshaft)
Although derogitory, he was trying to help.

Actually I don't blame hypsy for typing what he did because him saying "smart guy" wasn't necessary. Seriously, stop freakin nitpicking what people say...it's childish.

Exactly. It was already pointed out. Brandon just wanted to jump in and try to get a cheap shot in as a reply. Totally unnecessary.
