Is there a conversion kit out there to switch the timing chain to a pulley system for a 00+ 2.4L TC? If so where? Thanks
that would be defeating the purpose and cost you much more $$$ in the long run.
Whether it's a belt or a chain, you've still got sprockets, not pulleys.
everyone has posted good things, and again why?? What purpose?

Why not convert from chain to total gear?

On a DOHC motor it would be next to impossible.

No, they have conversion kits for some DOHC cars.

Again like I said next to impossible (which means it could be done). I think it could be done on a LD9, but yet again why?

well total gear doesnt get slack over time, and seems to be more precise. but changing over to a belt is just stupid.
Hell then just anodize or chrome the sprocket.
Pete Jackson gear drives have been around for years, and they are 1000 times more reliable then normal chain drive, plus they sound better also.
Mantapart makes a Gear Drive Kit.... for the 2.3 and 2.4.... I think its like 900+ Dollars... plus you need some machining work done as well if I remember reading it correctly....
the total gear kit will do more harm than good, think of all those gears turning, on the v8's gear drives have been known to rob 15-25HP away from the engine, a roller chain is about the best most rock solid setup out there, however going from a chain to a belt is known to free up some HP, but on a 4cyl like this, the difference or gains would be so minor you'd be damn right stupid to do it for that purpose.
