ok
I have a check engine light on in my 02 Z24 cavy... i have been told that when the light is on it makes the car go into a "safe" mode or some crap and it runs at only like the lowest HP and like an average fuel milage or something is any of this true?????

When the CEL is on, it does pull timing.

I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.

Actually... I got a CEL... broke the heater wire to my rear O2 sensor, and I'm getting better milage. Use to get in the ball park of 27 MPG, now I'm getting about 32MPG.

It change the timing, when you have a CEL, your car won't be as performant as normal. It's there to avoid other damages. It pull the timing back.

it will only pull timing if it is required by the CEL code

so no its not always true

get the code scaned so you know what you are dealing with , and people will be able to give you a direction on how to correct it

also this should have been posted in maintenance fourm

He is right not all codes make the car run worse.
I do not understand why you (starter of the post) are not more worried about finding out why the CEL is on than you are about what affects it has on the car.

i am not worried about the affects of the car b/c i had it looked at once and he said it was some wire to do with the air conditioner of the car and he replaced that wire and it came back on for a while then shut off... and some one told me this iformation and i was just wondering if it was true or not... thanks for the help.... and sorry for this post not being in maintainance
