my new Exhaust

Finally got the car back from the shop today, sadly, the used a Duralast Clutch with the stock flywheel (which sucks, the ACT didnt fit, and the mechanic didnt wanna try a 3rd time on the Fidanza flywheel), nice part was i had my Magnaflow Catback installed, and im nothing but grins with it now. Nice deep tone, a little raspy at higher RPM (i think its like that only when cold), the motor is still louder than the exhaust at 4k RPM (think its due to the AEM Short Ram). Im thinking it'll definitly get louder after the Header and high flow Cat. Does anyone know if that causes any more rasp, or just louder? I definitly dont like the weedwacker ricey civic sound, and love my magnaflow sound, just wasnt sure if a resonator should be used to help with that.

yeah if you add a resonator to it i will get rid of the weedwacker ricey sound of it. i went with the biggest one they could fit and i have a nice tone with my magnaflow. you'll pick up some more noise from the header, but the resonator will kill it.

If it doesnt break then you didnt drive it hard enough!

I drive an automatic, I'll race you... 1 hand and 1 foot.

Thanks, i like the tone, and dont mine some extra noise (the LD9 is a loud motor, which im used to anyway). I hope the Header doesnt add more crackle and raspiness, which will be hard for me to judge too, because the exhaust hasnt been "Broken in" yet.

Remember, the more you open up your exhaust system, the more exhaust flow you're going to have, the more you're going to hear your motor and your exhaust system. It's nothing rediculously louder but you can tell a difference.

Do what BlackCav said if you don't want it to be too loud.

I have an idea, get a friend to drive your car around the block for you, and you listen from the side of the road. THEN tell me its not raspy. The magnaflow catbacks sound good in the car, out of the car its a whole other ballgame. Definitely put in a 22-24" resonator, you'll like the sound even more.

he's absolutely right. sounds good in the car, but its raspy as hell outside the car (especially if you add a header and cat). a resonator is a must

Gotcha, i did have a guy i work with drive it, and it seemed raspy at higher RPM, i was thinking it was because the car was cool. Last night at work i bought this 3 part Fuel system cleaner we sell, and my boss held the RPM around 4k, with no rasp, but the car was warm by then. Is that still a possibility too with the exhaust? Also, how would an 18" work? I wanna be able to retain the straight pipe from my header when i install it, and adding a 24" resonator will cut into that straight pipe section, moving the flange closer to the cat (i'll have to have it welded in too, when the header is installed)

22" Magnaflow 4" round muffler, didn't touch the stock cat or flange at all.

The longer the better.

I was thinking more of getting a Thrust Glasspack, and it measures 25" i believe, making it too big to fit in that first pipe. Is there anyone else who make a resonator that perforated and is about that long without the bulk?
