ok i have a 97 z24 5 speed and i know are cars made power in lower rpms so there for if i shift a 6000 instead of 6500 would my times be faster or slower and what are you guys shifting at when you race???? thanks

The thing to keep in mind is our peak power might be at 5k (just a number not for real), but that does not mean to shift then. You want to shift so when you reach the next gear and lower RPM you are in your peak power. You do not want to be below your power band. For our cars it is best to rev them out to 6450 rev limiter. I usually shift out of first geat a little early, but the rest I hold.

JUST BEFORE THE REV LIMITER.... I'd go so far as to say that 99% of modern cars are geared so that the engine will drop into the sweet spot in the powerband when shifted at redline/factory limiter.
