UR and AEM Pulley Installation
Friday, April 21, 2006 7:19 AM
I'm probably going to install my unorthodox racing crank and aem alternator pulley this weekend and was wondering how much of a pain in the @$$ is it going to be. How much time do you guys think it will take to install? I already rented the pulley removal tool from a local advance auto and got all the tools necessary. What kinds of gains will I see on my 97 z24 auto with all of the other mods I've done. Thanks.

Hmm... aren't those both underdrive pulleys? So won't your alternator be UBER-underdriven? Might run into issues with that...

Its my understanding that only the unorthodox racing pulley is under driven. Not sure about the AEM alternator pulley though.

Do you have the right belt size for those pulleys?

the UR crank pulley is underdriven, and the AEM is OVERdriven (larger than stock). with this combo you can use the stock belt size!

you probably won't need a pulley removal tool either, just hit the 4 bolts with a impact gun on the crank pulley. shouldn't be a hard job to do.

We tryed the impact gun thing.
It wasn't pretty.

Like rhodz said, the combo URAEM uses factory belt.

But you'll want the tool to get your stocker off.
Just take your time.
