I was just wondering how much of a gain someone would see when getting connecting rods. I know their usually in tangent with Pistons, but do you gain anything out of just rods? I would imagine if their lighter weight than stock and/or have better heat resistance than that would be good but...
Also, in my 2.2, i would have to pull the whole engine to get at the connecting rods yes? So probably would be better to get rods, pistons, and cams done all at once. Thoughts on the subject?
If you are refering to forged rods, like Eagle, they are much stronger than stock. By using performance rods, you can prevent an engine from breaking stock weak rods.
They are not much lighter than stock if at all.

The rods themselves don't give any gain, the rods are mainly to handle the power that other mods are putting out. The stock rods are about as thin as pencils around the wrist pin, having forged rods allows for a little leeway so that if you see some knock or hit over the power the stock rods are rated for, you won't break them.
The engine does not need to be pulled to do rods, although it is a good idea. Yes you should do both rods and pistons, and I wouldn't do pistons unless you bored the motor out a little bit (that does require removal).
