well the reason that is important, is because the orange ones are .060 and the teal ones are .042 thick... if you use the .060 gaskets in the .042 groovs, the tower/cap wont seat properly and you can potentialy have your cams jump around and cause all kinds of havoc... on the other end, if you use the .042 gaskets in the .060 grooves, they wont seal properly and youll have oil spitting out all over the place.

Just remember to use the same color seals that you took out.

Are we sure on this? I have seen mant LD9's with both colors in the same engine. Teal on the intake cam, and orange on the exhaust (I believe).

if you saw two different colors, then more than likely:

- the wrong gasket was used
- the tower caps are from two different engines

As long as the the matching cap is used in conjunction with the proper gasket, there should be no problem. Its possible that some engines had both i suppose, but i have yet to see one with both... all the engines ive done cam swaps have always had matching gaskets on both sides.

I can say that 2 of the ones I have seen (one being my own) were stock from the factory this way.

95+ all use the same seals...... Felpro kits have orange and teal in thier kits..... one for intake one for exhaust..... forget which ones go where at this point, but thats whats in there.

96-98 2.4's are the same, 99-02 are the same....

^ Not completely

96 was the only year to have an oil level sensor
